If they wanted to "kill" CoH 1 they could've just said : "well, THQ is bankrupt and we can't move the servers from Quazal, so we're shutting down the game. Thx for playing guys!"
Just like EA did with the Battle for Middle Earth franchise after they lost the New Line LotR licenses, or with Battle Forge. There are plenty of games to "kill" a predecessor.
But they didn't. They instead created a steam coded version that cannot be turned off anymore from now on. So, this conspiracy stuff is ridiculous in itself.
Also, majority of coh 2 was made under THQ's reign over relic and its game design is the same since like 2 years ago when the alpha started (for which the Eastern Front team got invitational keys). So, all this "omg SEGA screwed CoH 2 Coh2 bad game omfg" is simply wrong. I won't go into more detail as I'm too lazy to describe everything about what relic did in the past to continue working on CoH and to help modding teams out.
Fact: Relic creates games for casual gamers, because you get more money from them, it's simple as that. That's why coh2 has been made the way it is. They took Blitzkrieg mod german tank fanboy stuff gameplay, added some vanilla coh aspects to it and rounded it up with 1.00 Eastern Front mod stuff like dual sniper teams and the removal of skill caps.
As a result you have the CoH 2 gameplay, which is sort of dumbed down compared to coh1.
