Eastern Front targeted by Sega
« on: February 09, 2014, 10:21:08 PM »
Hello,
It is quite apparent that Sega has specifically targeted the Eastern Front Mod because they know it is far better than their abortion called COH 2.  I know that it is a targeted attack and not directed at all mods for COH because the Blitzkrieg mod still works fine, hell EF still launches and runs but you in effect are playing the vanilla COH because you cannot use the unique elements that EF has created.  To the Developers of EF, tell Sega to go pound sand by creating your own stand alone EF game using a different 3D game engine and put it out there for crowd funding, I would support this!  Sega has ruined COH 2 by removing most of the functionality that we gamers have gotten used to in the original COH and made a lot of it a pay to play game model.  Well Sega you have shot yourself in the foot as far as I am concerned as I do not ever plan on ever purchasing anything that you publish in the future!  It would be interesting to know how many gamers would support the EF developers via crowd funding if they created a stand alone game.  The way I have temporally solved the problem is Sega force me to join the ranks of the Pirate Bay and I am currently playing EF on the COH I downloaded.  The only reason I purchased COH in the first place was because to play all the various mods for it especially EF so as far as I am concerned Sega by fundamentally altering the game is as far as I am concerned in breach of Contract AND I WANT MY MONEY REFUNDED BY STEAM AND SEGA or I want the game version rolled back by Steam to the version that EF still worked on.  How many of you EF gamers will start hounding STEAM to at least roll back the game version for COH to the earlier version?
An upset EF gamer,

I think that your point of view is wrong.
The problems were caused by the new company (smoking guns).
This company is responsible for the new CoH 1 Steam patches.
Smoking gun had no idea of CoH and its structure and modding implementation.
They tried to improve CoH and tried to enforce anti cheating programs.
Basing on this trials they locked the custom dll datas.
Without this datas EF cant be run on CoH.
We are in contact with Relic and we are working on a solution - with Relic.
Hope we are able to present u more soon.
Please be patient.
Thank u very much. Thank u all - all EF-Fans.

An upset EF gamer,

If you want a conspiracy theory you missed the one that counted the most. The killing of the old coh server just when coh2 was about to be released. how about that ?
knowing what you want is half the battle

If they wanted to "kill" CoH 1 they could've just said : "well, THQ is bankrupt and we can't move the servers from Quazal, so we're shutting down the game. Thx for playing guys!"
Just like EA did with the Battle for Middle Earth franchise after they lost the New Line LotR licenses, or with Battle Forge. There are plenty of games to "kill" a predecessor.

But they didn't. They instead created a steam coded version that cannot be turned off anymore from now on. So, this conspiracy stuff is ridiculous in itself.
Also, majority of coh 2 was made under THQ's reign over relic and its game design is the same since like 2 years ago when the alpha started (for which the Eastern Front team got invitational keys). So, all this "omg SEGA screwed CoH 2 Coh2 bad game omfg" is simply wrong. I won't go into more detail as I'm too lazy to describe everything about what relic did in the past to continue working on CoH and to help modding teams out.

Fact: Relic creates games for casual gamers, because you get more money from them, it's simple as that. That's why coh2 has been made the way it is. They took Blitzkrieg mod german tank fanboy stuff gameplay, added some vanilla coh aspects to it and rounded it up with 1.00 Eastern Front mod stuff like dual sniper teams and the removal of skill caps.

As a result you have the CoH 2 gameplay, which is sort of dumbed down compared to coh1.

Abuse is abuse and has to go.
