My old HDD died, and now I have a brand new virgin drive, with a fresh version of Windows 7. I downloaded Steam, from there I downloaded Company of Heroes 2.7; I did a first run to install DirectX and stuff, and at last I downloaded Eastern Front setup 2.1.0.1 from ModDB using Google Chrome - so far so good.
Now the launcher stops working when it is trying to update. I tried to disable autoupdate and do a manual update, but crash. And the incremental links in the sticky are dead, Chrome says there is no such thing as files-dot-easternfront-dot-org. In the log the launcher says "no connection to server". So I created an exception for the launcher in Windows Firewall. And made sure there were no faulty proxy settings involved. Still the launcher stops working instead of downloading an upgrade.
The mod itself, Eastern Front 2.1.0.1, is working allright, if autoupdate is disabled, but I cannot play with my friend, who has upgraded to 2.1.0.3
I have uninstalled and reinstalled Eastern Front, as administrator, but the launcher still crashes, and links are still dead.
Are the servers down, or should i panic? Please help.
