[1.7.0.2] Strelky seem weaker?

I just had a 1v1 with a player, and I noticed, in heavy(Green) cover, with DP-29s at medium range, they were dropping like flies to Panzer grenadiers, which were in Negative(red) cover. The only way I was able to take down one squad, was focus fire, smoke grenades and a sniper ace. It seems that they're weaker than they used to be. But I may have just been very unlucky. Any help would be nice.

5 Strelky Squads, 1 NI squad, 1 CS, 1 sniper ace vs 6 Panzer Grenadier Squads.
I lost 4 Strelky squads, and the CS before I retreated.

It is not impossible and its not a balance problem... If he focus fire your units and you not...

This actually sounds somewhat weird. But I could imagine that the pe player got 4man squads + officers + group zeal. Which is ridiculous to deal with anyways.

Regarding your suggestion: Strelky were not modified from 1.600 to 1.700, except for the added option to fire a one-time anti tank grenade. But we're currently testing some buffs & tweaks to their basic weapons against PE in our internal version.

However, we don't know yet if the changes will be included in the next patch.

3 of the had Gewehr 43s, and it is a balance problem, if you go in with a numerically superior force, with better weapons and abilities, then you come out the loser.

It is possible he had group zeal,  and officers, but he didn't have 4 man squads until after I had lost.

I didn't save the replay sadly, I wish I had, and since they weren't changed, I have to assume I'm just mis-remembering things.

Hmm...I usually could have Strelky combat 2 PGs (unupgraded) and taking 1 squad before retreating (though it was close-medium range).  This was against AI though.

When fighting pe... Just spam snipers when they get more than 5panzergren squads... their stgs and group zeal are broken abilities, and you can't really counter them as soon as they get vet on the long run. Try to get artillery - katyusha or KV 2. Or play with breakthrough doctrine vs PE and get KV 1s.

There's not much else you can do about it sadly..

You could also spam Assault Sturmovies. Same pop and they perform their role as shock troopers well. (Guards cost 8 pop which is why I'll rather invest in 2 Sturmovie Squads)
