Soviet's Infantry Art Portraits Close Examination
« on: September 27, 2012, 01:42:13 AM »
Correct me if I'm wrong, but for each Soviet portrait I will Examine and determine what squad you used from CoH/OF you combined with to make the new Soviet portrait, observing each squad.

1. Conscript's portraits are made completely on your own, they are a custom art portrait.

2. Strelky = Infantry Section (Tommies)

3. Guards = Rangers (Mustache is used from the Wehrmacht's Volksgrenadiers).

4. NKVD Conscripts Officer = Knights Cross Holders

5. Command Squad's portraits are made completely on your own, they are a custom art portrait, except for the officer cap?

6. Naval Infantry = Commandos

7. Mechanics/MGsquad = I don't what you used to make these (Besides the American/German MG belt on the bottom for the MGsquad).

8. Partisans = Commonwealth Captain

9. Ingenery = Rangers and Engineers (Mustache is used from the Wehrmacht's Volksgrenadiers).

10. Mortar Team = American Mortar

11. Sniper = American Sniper

12. Tankhunter = Commandos (You can tell because I believe the noses are the same shape).

Some are very noticeable, like the Naval Infantry or the NKVD Conscripts Officer, and some, such as Mechanics/MG squad, are very hard to tell compared to CoH/OF portraits. I am not complaining about the portraits, I am just pointing out some interesting results observing their portraits and some thing to look out for.

I can't help but think we are getting too many of these people. They make an account and start making topics. With no time in these forums, the topics they make are either redundant, annoying, or totally pointless. I've been here for a little while now, and I don't think I've even started a topic.

well, you have a point. ive been here about a year now and ive only started 7 topics. fishunterx has been here since about a month before me, and while he has a whopping  2488 posts, (not counting the endless amount of off topic ones) but has only started 20 topics of his own. nonetheless, i can understand newer players to the mod being curious about how units from vCoH compare to EF ones and other info, but topics like this are a bit much.

EDIT: fishhunterx=breadfish

Keep in mind this almost-pointless topic (which is trying to explain to the new people about the similar icons) took me an hour to post and edit.  ;). It's more like a "Hey I didn't notice that before and now I do, that was sorta interesting" kind of thread.  This title of the thread once again keep In mind, Soviet Infantry Portrait Close Examination, so I examine portraits, so what did you expect?   :)

I don't see anything wrong with this post :)... but it might seen as nitpicking for the content I guess ;D.

If it doesn't interest you, don't read it. Personally I see nothing wrong with this post because it is EF related and has discussion value (if you're into this). He just chose a really obscure boring topic is all.
If you get into an argument with me, you're wrong.
