canadian faction
« on: August 08, 2011, 03:51:19 PM »
I have over a longer period of time tried to put a Canadian faction together. this faction is not like others on several points.
the problem is just that now that I'm about to do the 3 different Doctrine I am running out of ideas. the 3 different is the navy, the Canadian Air Force and Canadian war economy. if anyone has any ideas please make them and then I'll see if I can get them to fit. as soon as it is don, I will post my whole idea here. :)
I can not self figure out how to bring the idea into reality, but this is also intended as an idea for the Dews so once they are finished with osther and has no more to do so could this be an option.

Hello mads, first of all congratulations to your nice idea. I'd really love to see it being realized one time in the future.
The only thing is, that the Canadians didn't really fight on the Eastern Front, did they? So your mod, or let's say your suggestions doesn't really fit EF and so you better post it in the Offtopic section. Do you have modding skills though?

Not gonna happen in this mod.
If you get into an argument with me, you're wrong.

no i don't have modding skills :-\
and i know that the Canadians did not fight on the eastern front. but the Canadians did still have an important role in the war. the Canadians produced valentine tanks which they sold to Russia during the war and i think that is all they have in common whit the Russians.
the reason that i post it here is that i think that the eastern front mod is great. I think that the dews could do a great job making the Canadian faction. better than allot of the other mods out there.

maybe you could change the name of "eastern front" to "Company of Heroes World of War". plus that the eastern front would have more to offer Company of Heroes Europe war. because if the name eastern front means that after osther there is nothing more to do than improve what they have maid, then this mod will die.

a little history :)
Canada's military was active in every theatre of war, though most battles occurred in Italy, Northern Europe, and the North Atlantic.

Over the course of the war, 1.1 million Canadians served in the Army, Navy, and Air Force. Of these more than 45,000 lost their lives and another 54,000 were wounded. The financial cost was $21,786,077,519.12, between the 1939 and 1950 fiscal years. By the end of the War, Canada had the world's fourth largest air force, and third largest navy. As well, the Canadian Merchant Navy completed over 25,000 voyages across the Atlantic. Canadians also served in the militaries of various Allied countries.

By D-Day, June 6, 1944, the landings at Normandy were accomplished by two beachheads made by the American forces at Omaha and Utah, two by British forces, Sword and Gold, and a final one at Juno made by the 3rd Canadian Infantry Division.

The war had significant cultural, political and economic effects on Canada, including the conscription crisis which affected unity between Canadian francophones and anglophones. However, the war effort not only strengthened the Canadian economy but further established Canada as a major actor on the world stage

Well, I can list our current list of tasks:

  • Keep balancing & fixing bugs
  • Create new gameplay stuff like challenges and such
  • Ostheer
  • Revamp Soviet Vehicles/weapons
  • Possible campaign
  • More Campaigns

So, I think we are not going to "die" anytime soon. We are not going to implement a canadian faction because they will be the same than CW, Perhaps a CW that use buildings and doesn't have moving penalties... but still using the same british equipment.

Perhaps a canadian unit has more chances, but even with that it won't make it. It would appear that we are just adding a unit for the sake of adding something with the "canadian" label.
