Question for EF team
« on: July 14, 2011, 12:46:59 PM »
Hi!

I am new here at the forum, and I have a simple question.My co-workers and me are making new modification for Company of Heroes.The timeline is set in the year 1944. and 1945.There will be three playable sides: Croatian Armed Forces (Axis), Yugoslavian Army (Allies) and German Occupation Forces (Axis).We are wondering would be the EF kind so kind, and allow us to use your models (tanks, weapons)?It would greatly reduce our work  :).

Sorry for my bad english.

P.S. If I missed the thread, I am shure that moderators will move the topic to the right place.

Pozdrav iz Hrvatske!

EF doesn't share models with other mods.

Hmmm....Normandy 44 have EF models. Anyway i can't understand, why you devs keep your model for yourself. I'd be happy to see kubelwagen in BK mod for example.

@matija191
Nice concept, i hope that EF devs will permit you to use their models.

afaik both teams ef and n44 supports each other
thats the reason why n44 has ef models and ef got n44 models

and its the decision of the devs if they want to share their models or not.

We have legitimate reasons why we don't share models, it's not because we're selfish twats, it's a preventative measure to ensure this mod doesn't spiral down the shitter.

Our player base is fragile enough as it is. We don't share models because it would almost certainly kill the mod. What we do is we share with teams, like N44, who have different goals (ie. Realism) for a little work. In N44's case, they animated for us, gave us MoW models and coded our entire AI from scratch. That's the sort of work that means N44 can help themselves to whatever EF model they please.

Ostheer models are being kept close to our chest so they don't become common place in other mods before the release of the faction. If we released our models to whoever wants them, when the Ostheer is released people are going to think 'Boring, already played with those units 4 months ago, give us something new', potentially destroying the factions before it's even released.

At the end of the day, these are our models, a lot of them are my own. I spend my own time making them, I spend my own time skinning them, I don't get paid for them so all I ask for in return is people respect the decisions I make in regards to what I do or don't do with them.
