Help-Ef Autoupdate problem

i recently installed ef v1.40 and i had auto-update on but every time i open the launcher crashes and i have no access to the settings to turn off the auto update is there is a way to change it through the command line help :(.
And now it is 1 am 29/5/2011 for my country so dont wait for me to answer soon
