I played two matches against this guy. Both matches "end" when he gets his Ostwinds out on the field. I just can't come up with a viable counter to these monsters. Any feedback is welcome, as I'm feeling that my CoH skills have taken a drastic turn for the worse lately. And I hate losing.

First match I played I was Breakthrough, but there was just not enough munitons on the map for me to get off a Sturmovik or anything else really. Munitions handicap is still too powerful in my opinion.

I've been watching the replay myself now... And I've come to the conclusion that my problem is not only the Ostwinds, but also his MGs. I can't really see any good counter to them, especially when supported when some sort of AT. The sniper team I suppose could do some damage, but their range is so short, and with their severe pathing issues (jumping around, walking back and forth instead of just actually friggin shooting) they just can't get the job done.

Edit: Also, version tag might be screwed up. I dunno. I'm playing the latest version.

MGs are fragile. If you can't flank them, try snipers, mortars, other types of arty, etc.

As for Ostwinds, they can chop AT Gun teams into mincemeat. If you at least get a T-34 (Or in your case since you go breakthrough, L-L Sherman) Ostwinds prove to be little threat. They're good against buildings, emplacements, and infantry, not necessarily tanks. (And IL-2's can be shot down by Ostwinds, so be careful)

Keep PaK's on their toes by rushing them with Infantry when you take down MG's with your sniper. Some PPsH Strelky wouldn't go a miss, and when the PaK's are gone (remember to the destroy or capture the gun) your armour will live longer and Ostwinds will be of little threat.

It's also a case of making the most of your resources. T-34/85 is an expensive upgrade, I'd only recommend if your opponent starts fielding proper Tanks (not Ostwinds), an SU-85 will do the same job for much less.

It was actually PAKs that destroyed most of youre armor (exept 1 T-90). Remember that Shermans armor (T-34) can withstand 37mm shells like they were rifle bullets.
You didnt have enough AT power to stop a Tiger (instead of 2 Ostwinds) and the game ended at 9CPs so this topic could also be called "[1.31] Tiger". As others said ZiS-2 would be nice, supported by a SU (only in case of flank attacks).
Anyway both players had great skill and I think you lost becouse you choosen Urban Strategy (no Katiushas, Tank Riders) on an open map. You also had a chance to recapture a PAK when youre 1st MG was destroyed but Im not sure if that would work.
Ill also add that new patch will change GoW so it will be much easier do destroy those ninja PAKs (and 88s).

In addition to the awesome GoW change, the retail patch is nerfing paks.

Pak nerf (1 cloaked shot) is already included in EF.  I think their cost os going down in retail patch?

All AT guns are going to get a lot less accurate against infantry. Does that count (I think, it does) for Hmgs?
That will be a pity, since I quite like to pick those off with AT guns - you either kill it in 2-3 shots, or force it to run away.

both of you are good players

but it seems that 2/3 of your tanks were killed because you haven´t been paying attention at this moment.

for an example your t90 was killed by a pak because you moved towards the enemy line and don´t move back to save the t90

and the whole game you haven´t build any at gun or tank hunters.

Its hard to pay atention to something you dont see and PAKs reload very quickly. :(

In addition to what others already mentioned I think building 2 outposts wasn't a good use of resources.

I'd also use Strelky as my main infantry asap. And I'd probably either upgrade to Storm Engies or Red Banner Strelky especially to rush weapon crews. As Storm Engies can throw satchels you don't need Partisans for that.

And imo one uses Break Through Strategy to get tanks so not getting enough munies isn't in conflict with this strat.

If you play VP games Wehr is unlikely to get T4 ;D.
