16 bit MS-DOS Subsystem
« on: September 28, 2010, 05:12:34 AM »
Hey all!
I've been kicking around downloading this mod for a while.  I finally broke down and did it. Everything was going swimmingly until I tried to start it.  When I double-clicked, a window popped up with the header, 16 bit MS-DOS Subsystem.  The window then reads,

C:\DOCUME~1\ADMINI~1\MYDOCU~\DOWNLO~1\COH_EN~1.EXE
The NTVDM CPU has encountered an illegal instruction.
CS: 0e0e IP:0es7 OP:ff ff ff ff ff Choose 'Close' to terminate the application.

Options are to select 'close' and 'ignore'.  If you push 'close', the window closes and if you select 'ignore' the "Oes7" changes.

my pc is running on Windows XP.

I have no idea what's up?  Has anyone ever had this problem or knows how to fix it?

Thanks!

Do you have .NET Framework 3.5 installed?

I don't know what program do you tried to start but doesn't looks like EF.

Where do you downloaded the installer. I hope from ModDB.

I'm not sure if it is downloaded or not, but I'll check.  (Sometime tomorrow)

I got the file from FileFront and I had it download onto my existing COH file.  I did make a separate folder for the the launcher, though.

From you response, I'm going to venture a guess that FileFront isn't the best. (I wouldn't know, I usually use Strategy Informer)

I don't know if someone uploaded the file on that server, but you can be sure that ModDB always has the latest version.

Good to know! I give ModDB a try tomorrow.

So should I try uninstalling this other weird thing?  I tried earlier and it looks like I may need to do it manually  ::)

Thanks for providing great support for a great mod!  Defiantly getting my friends in on this.

Make sure the size of the file is the correct:

The size of the 1.310 full version is 838025072 bytes.

The size of the 1.300 full version is 814944256 bytes.

Make sure you have .NET Framework 3.5.

I forgot to say, you should check for that size in the general tab of the properties of the file.
