Veterancy system

if the dev team's already done one then forget this, but this one is done to some historical accuracy

veterancy bought by player as an upgrade for whole army at headquarters

first stage: hardened: infantry get improved morale and vehicles get increased speed

second stage: Order of the Red Banner: infantry get increased accuracy, ba 64, t 70,zis 2 and katyusha get increased LOS, IS2 and SU-152 get improved rate of fire, KV-1 gets pintle DSHK and t34 and su-76 get "pintle PPSh" (commander emerges with PPSh)

third stage: guards status: Upgraded weapons/ abilities for all units: Sappers, partisans and guards get panzerfaust ability (stolen panzerfuast/ RPG-1), command squad soldiers change to guards (SVT-40s) , regulars get PTRD and 2 SVT-40s, conscripts get 2 PPShs (and one for commisar), The sniper team get a scoped SVT-40, all weapon teams get a PPS-43 for soldiers not manning weapon and PTRD team gets a PTRS.
Ba-64 gets the victor ability, the t70 gets a pintle PPSh, the katyusha gets faster reloading speed, t34 and kv-1 get flamethrower, IS-2 and ISU-152 get DSHK and SU-76 can fire indirect.

as for guards squad with guards upgrade, guards units in the RKKA sometimes got guards designation twice. I also think that adding the red banner to the sleeves of infantry models (like on the original guards (they get the same but on the other arm)) would be a good idea

yeah, the idea is that it reflects the soviet system of giving whole units special designations
