Armor handling blobs?
« on: August 07, 2010, 05:16:33 AM »
Note : I'm not talking about those tanks which are endowed with special weapons like the churchill avre etc.Only tanks using main weapons like Gun , mg , flamethrower

Please specify why you have selected that particular option

Cheers :D

I have no time to play due to work, so i haven't played with reward units for US and Wehr, but my choices are:

US - M3 Quad, Sherman 75mm
Wehr - Ostwind, StuH
Brits - Cromwell, AVRE? ???
PE - Whirlbelwind, Pz IV

Others - Wehr Tiger :D

Selected: PE Pz IV, M3 HT Quad and Other.

Mors Indecepta

Might controls everything, and without strength you cannot protect anything. Let alone yourself...

USA: M26 Pershing - Sherman 76mm

WEHR: Ostwind Flakpanzer - Tiger - Puma

PE: Armoured Cars - Panzer IV

BRITS: Cromwell - Churchill Croc

Pershing and Tiger, besides having a good penetration power against tanks and veichles, has an excellent explosive power against infantry.
Ostiwind has a super-rate of fire and if you vet it also a good precision.
Armoured Cars and Pumas are the best Anti-Inf light veichles thanks to their speed and 20mm rapid-fire main gun.
PzIV (Panzer Elite) must be locked down for maximum effectiveness.
Cromwell is good like Sherman upgraded, Churchill Croc is quite good but slow.

I don't bother with churchill croc unless i'm swimming in mp.
churchill AVRE is probably the best anti-infantry tank.
I would add Stuart but 75 muni for one canister shot? wow harsh.

I find the germans have loads of armour that is quite effective vs infantry.

Americans hmm, Crocodile sherman maybe, Calliope at a distance. yet to try the US reward units.

You want be disapointed. Both US reward Shermans are great vs blobs.

I would vote for the locked down PE PzIV but it can be easielly destoyed by an arti strike then.
I choose the cheapest allied medium tank becouse I find shreck blobs (not single units) more common and dangerous than Ranger/Airborne/Sapper blob.

Cromwell has better rate of fire than a Sherman, higher spotting range. Its gun range, fire rate and spotting range are improved by a CCT. Hull down ability is also usefull.

Theyre allmost the same vs Infantry.
76mm reloads a little slower.

Sherman Jumbo has the double the AoE of a 105mm Sherman, even more than a Howitzer atm, so I would say its a bit on the ridiculous side of effective-against-blob.

Canister Shot has always been ridiculous as well. You have to time the reloads of Schrecks, but for 75 Munitions you can kill 10+ men.

Ostwind is ol' reliable, en masse or with vet 3...there is no longer a blob...
