ultra settings?

I know this has been mentioned before,but I cant seem to find it,I just bought a smokin new video card....and i seem to remember something about "ultra settings" and not to use them,what was the problem with ultra settings?

Ultra settings use directX10. So unless you have windows 7/vista, you won't be able to use them even if you have an awesome card. They're not that special anyway, CoH already looks great. I'm able to use them but don't .

You can still google around for XP DX10, but it's unstable and a bit risky.
