Wire line
« on: February 08, 2010, 08:01:52 PM »
Ive thought about ways to make the Ostheer the attrition prone faction and here's my idea:

Assault pioneers can be upgraded to support pioneers for advance repair and can lay telephone line which helps increase supply line when attached to the observation posts. Lines get destroyed if; A. Wire dropper gets dropped while performing the action of laying the wire B. If observation post is destroyed.

 ;)

Why not make these wire lines the ostheer's way of securing resources. So you have to secure the points all the way from your base. Thats pretty unique, if you ask me. ;D but then again it might suck a little bit on some maps.

you could have it so that it builds like Barbed wire (although as one continuous line) but having to build stations to secure points, and then the pioneers build the wire back to the base or to the closest secured point, sounds unique to me.

they would have to be hard to detect and cost almost nothing otherwise it would be easier to just leave it alone and maybe instead of connecting ALL to the HQ they could be used in continuous fashion from point to point...

Sure. Now you just have to figure out how to code it.

I'm not even a serious game modder and I can see just how hard this would be on the COH engine.

When making suggestions, it's important to be thoughtful of the limits of a games engine, as well as other factors.

I'm not shooting down the idea, just trying to constructively point out the obstacles in your way.

You could build radio structures like the Commando triangulation equipment in your sectors. This radio, built a limited range away from the sector flag, would secure the sector against enemy capture attempts.

or use it in chain formation.... wireless sector lockdown... needs to be in range of another transmitter which eventually is connected by wireless to the HQ...or a radio facility...

Good idea.

What about similar idea where you could build a supply line to a cut off sector but still recieve the supply?

The germans were often surrounded on the eastern front.

This would be a good idea, but only if getting cut off made it drop down to normal gain, not the upgraded rate. They would also have to be very weak
