75mm LeIG 18
« on: July 10, 2013, 03:42:45 PM »
So I was just comparing the merits of the LeIG 18 to the M1927 and it made me wonder, why are they so different even though they are of a similar caliber and purpose?

Range: The LeIG 18 can fire at least twice the range of a M1927. I do not know the true parameters, but I can gauge that it's at least two times (M1927 had vastly superior range in real life)

Firepower: Roughly the same?

Perks: LeIG 18 does not require a skill from the perk tree

Mobility: It's rather amusing to see two men hauling a half-ton LeIG 18. Is it meant to be the Osteheer's mortar unit? If two men can hual a LeIG 18, then four men can haul a M1927.

Cost: I believe that the LeIG 18 costs more than the M1927?

Anyway, I just think that the LeIG 18 has all the perks of a field gun and almost none of the drawbacks. It's incredibly difficult to counter without using artillery in the earlier parts of the game when it can just rain horrific death on your infantry units (especially the paper Soviet infantry).

Does anyone have a tactic against this thing? Counter-mortar fire is not going to work because on a 3v3 (I tried it on the map Vimoutiers [sic]) map, it can rain shells at the midpoint of the map from the safety of the Ostheer base.

The LeIG will receive some tweaks to its performance in the future and yes, it's a bit too strong at the moment.

Abuse is abuse and has to go.

Im pretty sure the m1927 has a more explosive payload. The few times I have used it It has killed multiple infantry units in one shot, where the LeIG damages infantry and rarely: kills a single unit. keep in mind that the M1927 is immoblie but alot tougher than the LeIG especially if it functions as I think it does and can only be killed by destroying the emplacement itself and not being able to kill it's crewman. I will agree the the LeIGs range should either be nerfed or balanced by similar soviet weaponry like bringing back the heavy mortar.

Dispite their very simlar purposes historically, they both server different purposes in game

the leig functions more as a mortar, the m1927 is more like a stationary StuH gun.

Thed dmg vs infantry  are highly limited for me because i think the was  a heavy mortar with high destructiv   shells and need to be like reality (not that its end like WoT),  but  it explosiv range made it to OP, that mean it destroy  2 squads at once  and that without needing any of luck.
I played against  osteheer   and 1 single  leig just killed my stationnary IS 2 like a buttery character. M1927 does poor dmg on a tank just t lvl 3 its an satisfaisant dmg

Yes. ISG damage will be lowered for the next patch. At the moment there are some damage modifiers which make it deal 120% of its (already very high) damage to soviet infantry units.

Abuse is abuse and has to go.
