@TyrantOfUtumno That above (of mine and of Blackbishop's) is addressing your issue. Try it out: don't run the EF launcher at all (after all updates are done). Just create a separate shortcut (use the link, I gave in my previous post to consult you). They say, it helps. Best wishes!
Ok I've created the non-launcher shortcut. I'll test it out tomorrow to see if it performs better. Post Merge: March 16, 2011, 06:48:24 PM
Ok I've just tried a 4 vs 4 skirmish. It seemed to be going well for a while, I thought it might have been fixed, but at about 25mins in it crashed. There didn't seem to be more units in play than at any other point in the game though. I could understand if I had tried to build a big army and then the game crashed but the amount of units didn't seem anymore than at any other point.

@TyrantOfUtumno As you have an unreliable processor, i don't think you can play this game properly with your current PC.
The problem that celerons have is that they have less cache memory and their bus transfer speed is lower than other models, creating a severe bottleneck between ram/hdd/processor... and that happens because isn't a processor designed for gaming but for casual use.
Remember that EF uses more resources than ToV, hence the crash. Also, skirmish matches seems to cause more crashes than PvP.
Aye I guess I'll stick with Opposing Fronts for the time being. Eventually when I get a better PC I'll try EF again. Well, sorry to hear that, man. Just tried to help you out. Hope, you can find some solution to your problem. Np, thanks for the help, looks like RAM is the problem and the processor as well. That's a good suggestion, i remind someone said EF launcher was giving him problems of "stability" on his pc. He said his problems gone once he stopped to use the launcher Hmmm so shutting down the launcher before I set up a match might help? Or is this in response to someone else?

Yeah, it's definitely the RAM deficiency - the game crashes the very moment it experiences the RAM shortage, then the RAM usage drops, since the game isn't really running. Get your RAM usage below 1Gb before you start the game, or else - get more RAM.
As I say, without any games running my RAM usage is about 500mb, meaning I have 1500mb free. Also I just tried Opposing Fronts - my RAM did exactly the same thing when I started a match with that, went down to about 20-25% free. Though I didn't play that game out to see if it crashed, it has very rarely crashed in the past.

Sounds pretty much like RAM deficiency. Try closing all programs, unneeded ATM. You can monitor your RAM usage through process monitor (ctrl+alt+del), or with a help of some utility like statbar. Mainly, people tend to stick with anti-virus software, though it is of no use, when the game is running, really. But basically, CLOSE EVERYTHING, unless you really need it.
Ok I've just done a little experiment. Here is what I did before I started the game: Downloaded 'Advanced SystemCare' which gave me a RAM usage bar near the clock on my screen. When I haven't got any games or internet running it is at about 80% (1600mb roughly). I entered the game and reduced my settings until the settings bar was green and about halfway along (that's well within acceptable settings I think?). Lastly I made a 2vs2 computer match. On entering the game my RAM dropped to about 25% free RAM. After about 20 minutes the game froze. However I looked at the RAM usage while the game was frozen and it was at about 30-40% (I would have thought it would need to be under 10% in order for the game to crash?). Any ideas?

EF uses more resources than ToV(which uses more resources than OF), hence, that's why the crash happens. Did you get a "temp folder full" error or just crash?
No error messages at all. All of of sudden the game freezes and the sound of the game just keeps repeating over and over. The only thing I can do is manually turn the computer off using the on/off switch on the actual computer. Post Merge: March 15, 2011, 09:08:10 PM
Try using gamebooster (utility). It is quite helpful. I haven't had crashes in ages. Also, you might wanna check your virtual memory settings. If those are low - enlarge the swap file size.
Yep, downloaded and used the gamebooster facilities yesterday. Didn't seem to do that much though. Virtual Memory is at 4092mb.

What are your pc specs? Not great but enough to run the standard Opposing Fronts on high settings without any problems. Windows XP Intel Celeron 2.40GHz (2 CPUs) 2GB RAM NVIDIA GeForce 9500 GT, 1GB Memory Anything else needed?

Usually this kind of crashes happens because the users have 32 bits OS... but other ones are because CoH engine becomes a bit unstable due to all the stuff it has to load. Sometimes helps to use a 64 bits OS.
I have a 32 bits OS I think. Do most people have a 64 bits OS that play this game?

Just downloaded Eastern Front yeasterday to give the new faction a try.
Firstly great job on it all, not that easy to tell the difference between this and the real game quality wise.
My first thoughts on the Soviet faction are it is a bit overdone. So many units and upgrades compared to the others I couldn't really get to grips with what each thing does as easily as I could with the other factions. There seems to be able 8 different kinds of infantry and 9 or so tanks. The armoury upgrades were a tad overwhelming as well.
My suggestion would be to refine these units and upgrades so there aren't as many and to make it clear what each one does. For example having 4 tanks each with a specific purpose like the other factions instead of 8 or 9, many of which are overlapping on eachothers role. Less and more precise armoury upgrades might be a good idea as well. The only other idea would be to create another Soviet faction and put all the excess unit types in there.
Good job overall though.

I've just downloaded Eastern Front yesterday and each game I have played it has crashed about 15-40 minutes in. I could have the graphics set a bit high but seeing as many others seem to be experiencing this problem it appears as though it is a bug?
