Maybe a bit late to answer to this thread but I haven't been around much lately, thought I'd contribute to this nonetheless.
It's wasn't my grandfather who fought in WWII but by great-grandfather. Although my family was noble and traditionally held higher military offices in Prussia and later on Germany, he didn't - as my family didn't get along with the Nazis due to ideological reasons - so he got called up as simple infantryman. Surviving all of WWII (I can't exactly tell which battles he fought in or which unit he was allocated to as my grandfather doesn't really like to talk about it), he ironically died of pneumonia in a military hospital in late May, 1945. 4

Sorry for the late answer, I wasn't around the last few days :/
Looks promising! It's good to see people are still mapping 11 years after CoH's initial release! On the error: Sometime the folder to save your CoH1 maps has changed from the My Documents path to the respective one in the CoH1 root directory, so it's best to save your maps in: Code: [Select] C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Company of Heroes Relaunch\WW2\Data\Scenarios\MP

As this map isn't part of the official map pool right now but there was demand for it, here it is:

Mapping / Re: Adjusting the size of the toolbar and menus in world builder« on: April 03, 2017, 07:06:52 PM »
Hi HerrVoss,
If I understand you correctly, you want to change the scaling of the WorldBuilder's UI (enlarge it) in order to improve its visibility. There is no such function in the WorldBuilder itself, what you might try though is decreasing the overall resolution of your PC when working with the WB. I hope this helps. 13

Well, it seems like your PC can't cope with the demands of WorldBuilder - my technical understanding is limited though, perhaps you should check your graphics card's driver, whether DirectX is installed and everything else that is needed to smoothly run the game itself.

Mapping / Re: Stalingrado Railway Map Black & White« on: May 01, 2015, 07:39:40 PM »
Hello Darren Marshall,
The issue about creating snow maps and snowy atmosphere settings in CoH1 is that there are almost no appropriate snow textures. The ones we have are custom made - everything else had and still has to be done with sand textures. The nature of the latter makes them come with a slightly yellow colour though - which isn't too snow-like. Our workaround (which is the common one) is changing the lighting to achieve a snowy, cold and frosty look. Sadly, the saturation of a map is affected when doing that because getting rid of colours other than white and blue is hard to do without it. What you might be interested in as well is the separation of environment lighting and soldier lighting. These two different entity groups may be affected by different light sources, colours and so on - thus it may seem like the map being black and white here and there, showing your units in much higher saturation that their surroundings. I'll see what I can do about that, I'll surely try to duplicate the sunlight over the soldier light for the two maps having this odd look. Thanks for reporting as always! Best regards, Max, Lead Level Designer. 15

Well then, let's to through this step-by-step.
After selecting the object/splat from the list on the right bottom side of your WorldBuilder window and right-clicking to place it, what exactly did you do to manipulate objects? Here's the possibilties you are usually granted to do so: LMB+Shift+Mouse: Adjust angle LMB+H+Mouse: Adjust height (objects, water and object splines only) LMB+C+Mouse: Clone object/splat/... -> Might help you to avoid restarting if the issue isn't fixable LMB+C+H+Mouse: Clone object vertically After having placed anything of your choice by using the right mouse button, you should be able to go to the list to your right and select any other entry and place it as you like. If not, there is some serious trouble - at least if it occurs that early. Actually, it is quite common to witness the error stated by you when having worked on a map for quite a while in one single session, I've never heard of it happening immediately though. |
