Eastern Front / Re: Who was the best commander in WWII?
« on: February 21, 2010, 08:22:49 PM »
The topic is 3 years old now! ;D WoW
And still alive!
Rommel lead. Why is he so popular? He did not win the war in the desert.

The only reason Rommel lost was because his army was under-supplied, he didn't control the Navy or Airforce so he couldn't really do anything about it. He sent dozens of pleas to Hitler asking him to do something about it. But he never did...

Someone on another forum suggested it might be an antivirus program causing the connections to get dropped, but we both turned our AV programs off and it didn't help.  It's pretty random, like we got through one game fine, then tried another and immediately got dropped, then did another and were fine until the VP counter got to around 25 and we were just about to win, and we dropped.  Annoying!   >:(

Same here, like I said for me it kind of just stopped, I think a patch fixed it for us or something.

I have been playing EF with a friend recently, but unfortunately now it seems like every game we play, after a while our connection drops...I get a message saying he dropped out and the AI took over, and he gets a message saying that I dropped and the AI took over for me.  We are still in the game, but it's like our connection to one another dropped.  Then we have tried playing the unmodded COH and we get the same thing after a certain while.  I asked about this on the bug report forum section but nobody has responded and I'm not sure if this is a game issue, a Relic issue, or a connection issue.  I'm not on a router and have a direct link to cable internet, and he's directly on an ethernet connection at his college.  Is anyone getting this issue?  It seems to happen when we do 2v2 against the AI.

Hey! That kept happening to me and my friend too! We couldn't get to the bottom of what it was, eventually it just stopped and we could play online again.

Can't really say what it is though  :-\

Ostheer Suggestions / Re: The Wehrmacht in the East (Ostheer)
« on: February 16, 2010, 04:44:38 PM »
Thanks  :)
However, your "fear" was my main idea.  ;D
Ostheer shouldn't be a faction which every "noob" can play and win with. Also, OH shouldn't be pure mix of WH and PE, unfortunatly, many (retarted) people here seems to wish something along this lines, God knows why...
The Ostheer I suggest is difficult to play and not for noobs since you have to look after your units because they're expensive and normally can only be upgraded through veterancy, so the main goal to win with the Ostheer is to preserve your units and use them "together" to get their full potential...

Yeah I agree with you, I can imagine (if you were playing against the Soviets) that you could get straight into the fighting as both of these factions are strong early-game, but if the Ostheer are more powerful in the early stage as you suggested before, then what advantage do the soviets have?

Ostheer Suggestions / Re: Music of the Ostheer

Obviously it should be Marschier in Feindesland.
Waffen SS - SS Marschiert In Feindesland

I can really imagine that as the main menu music XD

I really like your idea, although my main fear is that if the Ostheer were to be released exactly like this, then I think it would take quite a long time to get used to them as they seem extremely tactical (like the Panzer Elite).

I quite like this Idea, I was thinking you could get a halftrak or an Opel Blitz to tow it, and of course it would take time to set them up.

Too be honest I think alot of these songs would suit the Werhmacht more, I think the Ostheer would probably have sad, depressing, and slow kind of music as historically for them fighting the Russians was four years of hell.

I think the Panzer-Elite kind of music would suit them the best.

Ostheer Suggestions / Re: Flammenwerfers

Yeah, My main point really was that I think the Ostheer should be able to equip Flamethrowers on other squads instead of just the engineer/sapper/pioneer units.

Sorry for the lack of detail as it was simply an idea on the top of my head.

Ostheer Suggestions / Flammenwerfers

Just a quick Idea I had come up with for the Ostheer faction.

I understand that the biggest trouble for you guys is to try and seperate the Ostheer faction from the Werhmacht and Panzer Elite, so I thought of one way you could make this faction more unique.

The medium squads (equivalent to Grenadiers) could be upgraded with Flamethrowers as well as other upgrades like the portable MG42 to mow down those conscripts.

To make sure that these would not be over-spammed, they could cost 75 munitions per upgrade.

Please post if you like this idea  ;D
