What does it mean if we posted a crash report and never got any official feedback on this thread? Does it mean we didn't submit it right, or that you guys just couldn't figure it out?

Sorry to seem like a nagging nelly but did anyone ever figure out what triggered the crash I posted on page 1?

Off Topic / Re: World of Tanks advice

Know your role. If you're a light tank, stick close to the TDs and Heavy tanks with good range to back you up, and rush forward to scout when the group comes under fire so the big boys can bring their range into play.

If you're a medium, also stick close to heavier tanks, but use your mobility, armor, and firepower to flank the enemy and hit them yourself in their weaker armor, or at least force them to turn to engage you and thus expose their weak armor to your teammates.

If you're a heavy, try to be the center of gravity of the attack. Try to be the guy attracting all the fire, because you're built to take it. Remember that you're not invincible though, and when you start running out of HP, you should revert to staying at the fringe of the attack or relying on ambush tactics to continue racking up damage.

TDs are primarily the snipers, and in some cases excellent ambushers. Small low TDs are best suited for waiting near cover, firing off a shot, then quickly retreating behind cover, then setting up again for another ambush. Heavy top gun TDs are essentially semi-mobile bunkers for defense or slow offense.

SPGs, well cmon. Sit in base and shoot stuff, nuff said.

Can't analyze this one without a dump file.

I tried to find the dump file per your instructions, but I didn't find it anywhere in that folder. What does the file typically look like, is it a hidden file or something?

Edit:

Hmm, crashed again, this time I DID find a dump file.

3v3 on Kiev, 2 Soviet AI and me vs 3 Wehrmacht, half hour into the match towards when things were wrapping up I tried to get my two IS2s and my IS3 to move to a new location when it crashed. It seems like a lot of these crashes are occuring after move to location commands.

I honestly don't have the slightest idea what triggered this one, just randomly happened about 10 minutes into the match during a skirmish between some conscripts, upgraded naval infantry, and a commisar against some Panzergrenadiers. It was a 3v3 with 5 AI players on Hedgerow Siege, 3 Soviet vs 2 Wehr and 1 PE, me being one of the soviet players.

Can't analyze this one without a dump file.

The PTRD does not properly replace the SVT on the Naval Infantry, both guns are visible in use.

So apparently the patch that I've been beta testing for COH is entering the final phase, and will be hitting the game servers soon. I'm wondering, is EF going to be prepared for this patch? I remember how prior patches often broke a lot of mods, some permanently, others for a long time.

So what's the problem with telling the police?

Best case scenario: Police shut these motherf---ers down.
Worst case scenario: Police collect large bribe, motherf---ers have less money to continue their illegitimate activities with.

Regardless, I think this guy is being silly. Everyone thinks their countries police are all corrupt but I tend to believe a lot of the time it's just misperception.

I could also say just tell your friends to tell everyone not to buy this stuff and that you can buy the game for just as cheap on Steam and be able to play online.

But quite frankly I'm just getting an "uneducated tool from some craphole of a country" vibe from this whole thread. Maybe it's the iffy english, I dunno. Sorry if I offend, but I'm really tired of countries like yours fucking up the industry for the whole world with all the pirates you support.

Anyone could have and should have known better to buy the damn thing in the first place. I don't care where you're from or what your culture is, theft is theft no matter how many cultural boundaries you cross. And buying stolen goods is theft by association. The money you pay directly contributes to the theft.

Ostheer Suggestions / Re: Unit suggestion thread:

Yikes, don't go all berserk on me like that. One off topic post and you're threatening to close the thread? Try to unwind man, you're a little tense.

Back on topic, I wonder if we should think of what the ostheer engineers should be like. I was thinking more with a focus of on the field anti tank duties, like explosives that can be planted directly on disabled vehicles, and somewhat less focus on straight up building duties.

Just annoys me that the sloppy russian curators have their hands on it. If it was in an American or British Museum I bet there'd be a lot more info on the darn thing, like what it's made of.

It's bad enough the Russians took over so many countries after the war, but they friggin took all the prime historical equipment for themselves too, and they don't even care for it properly. They barely document anything, they don't allow enough research into the stuff and they barely even care at all about the stuff.

The idiots captured a few pristine Auto Union D-type racecars at the end of the war in an east german mine shaft, and took them as war booty. They were eventually found in a scrap heap. These are also the same idiots that burned the Amber Room.

The Russians deny it of course, but then what else is new. These are the same people that "were not responsible for the Katyn massacre"  ::)

Utter and complete idiots. I just thank god that a few competent curators like the folks at the Imperial War Museum and the Aberdeen Proving grounds have amassed sizable collections of ex german equipment to preserve and document properly for future generations.

Good point. As far as I can tell, no one actually knows what it was supposed to be used for. I'm also guessing it was a field mod and not a "one-off" or even a prototype.

Here's another baffling German design.

That looks freakishly similar to the APC from Aliens.

Bugs & Tech Support / Filefront download is messed up
« on: August 13, 2010, 06:26:00 PM »
Hey guys, BDNeon back from the dead. Hard drive went kaput a few months ago and I kinda took a break from COH after that till recently.

So I see a few new patches since I last checked in, awesomesauce. No Ostheer yet but hey, one thing at a time.

I've run into a bit of a hitch though. When I download the 1.2 setup from Filefront, the filename is "EF_Setup1.2.0.0_FULL[1]", and the filetype is listed as "0_FULL[1]". My computer simply doesn't recognize it as a .exe

What's annoying is that all the filefront downloads have been like that for me. I've given up on downloading stuff from them because all the files turn out wrong.

Do you guys have any fixes? If not, any alternate links besides filefront?

General Discussion / Re: It's over.
« on: June 18, 2010, 03:56:31 AM »
Perhaps its being looked on the wrong way. I agree that this is the best game I have ever played. But I remember saying the same about spyro and crash bandicoot. The point is that its great when they're new and popular but eventually it ends. On the flip side, theres always the latest and greatest game right around the corner! Here's what you do: Enjoy it while it lasts! I know I will!

Bad example. Don't you remember? All the Crash and Spyro games made AFTER the glory days sucked hard!

Your example made me feel even MORE pessimistic about the future of COH. Thanks.

Though by that stage, vScripts would be useless in combat anyway.

Something's better then nothing.

Even so, it can be a total game saver when you suddenly lose all your territory and are well over your popcap, but can still buy 5 conscript squads.
