General Discussion / Re: is EF dying?
« on: February 05, 2010, 06:10:54 PM »
It died a little bit more today, my friends and I all uninstalled the mod.

It is fundamentally flawed, and just another POS mod that creates invincible late game allies, just like cross of iron mod.

When I play russians I don't have to think, and finding people to play against becomes hard as nobody wants to play the totally gimped faction.

Good try EF, I was hoping you wouldn't succumb to the typical mod cliche, but you did.

I don't know about this commander arty nerf, everytime I use it the ability destroys the building I target.

The problem with the russian arty firebase is that it is tier0, and it fires forever. I built 2, and you can almost fire them continually that is how long they fire. That and their range is ridiculous. The Brit arty costs more, and has a shorter range and does less damage.

I agree, unfortunately the arty should be removed, or at very least moved to a doctrine tree.

Balance Discussion / Re: Reality Check for EF team

No, I don't think you are sitting around doing nothing. I know you have seen the "Russians are OP" posts exactly 5 billion times.

This post was my attempt at making sure you understand the fact that you as a dev team should have a vested interest in making a balanced game, the fact that it was released in this state and your concerns were ignored I think are enough to warrant such a post. Obviously somewhere someone decided the balance wasnt a big enough issue to hold the release. When it should have been.

So, not you Diablo, but all of you in the Dev team need to have a vested interest in a properly balanced game if you truly want the mod to survive.

mostpeople - okey, lets "kill" the Soviets, and all "German" will rule as usual - so what will be the point to play the bull shit faction? So, nobody will play it either :)

The way is - to try to get a LITTLE bit balance more, but together with finfing new taktics vs it with Wehr and PE.

Not sure what you're trying to communicate to me, but your words are not working.

I think you mistake this post for a nerf the russians post, which is not the case. This post is a bring some parity to the EF mod if you want it to survive - there is a difference.

For the record I am not a german player.

Balance Discussion / Reality Check for EF team
« on: January 23, 2010, 09:37:59 AM »
Hey guys I just want to bring up a point here which is unfortunately something a lot of mod teams have to deal with.

As it is now, it is undeniable that the EF mod is broken, and Russians are too powerful. That's not what I am here to discuss however; I am here to discuss desire to play.

Plain and simple all, if you have a broken faction that is overpowered and awesome and everyone wants to play it, great. But! If you do, then nobody will want to play against you playing that faction, or against anyone else playing that faction.

And the bottom line is, if nobody wants to play against the Russians, then THE MOD WILL DIE OUT.

One more time so everyone is clear here: If you have a ridiculously OP faction nobody will want to play against them and the mod will die out. All of your hard work will be for nothing, and we will all remember EF as just another failure of a mod which had so much prospect and we all looked forward to.

So, I am going to state the obvious, but it is in your interest and everyone else's interest to fix the balance issues. Or face the possibility that the mod will gain a bad reputation and will die out.
