Me and my friend have invented several quite good board games, when we were teens. I still remember one of them (the board, the rules - all about it, since I still consider it a very decent game).

Could you post more info about game you designed? I'm looking for some good ideas, game mechanisms etc. Board games are good change from time to time. At least you have to meet with friends personally to play so it has more social character than PC online games...

When i was kid, i remember the game ...
Chess like field, closed by square like cards. Under the some of that card hide the mines. You & your counterpart must crossing the field & attack each other.
I can not remember the name of the game.

I think you mean Stratego, at least it sound like this game.

Yes but there are thousands of board games, hundreds of them are very good and fun to play. And I'm not speaking about Chess, Monopoly or Scrabble :)

For example:

- Dominion
- Civilization board game
- Starcraft board game
- Warcraft board game
- Puerto Rico
- Sankt Petersburg
- Carcassonne
- Age of Conan
- Arkham Horror etc...

Problem is: U cant talk about eastern front without Panther and Tiger.
Both tanks were developed as answer for the russian T-34 so an Ostheer NEED this symbols.
There is no way around.

There is always way around :)
Besides PzIV is far more symbol of eastern front than Panther and I haven't seen it included. Or SS troops (with different name o.c.) over Fallschirmjaeger troops.

Don't touch my Panther:))
More Tigers it seem to OP...and Panther is a good tank. What u can say about Panther II? Panther II vs T34-85 :>?

Nashorn
This is the Big Brother of Sturer and Marder. We allready have Marders, so next "born" is Sturer Emil...

Why bother to include new units if you can put all units from Wehr+PE and just change skins/adjust combat values?

I like Panther too, but I'm not looking forward to see it in Ostheer. What about making a Tiger which will have same combat data as Panther? Would it be ok? Panther model inside Tiger skin. And honestly I don't know where it come from that Tiger is OP, because there is no problem to decrease some of its values if this was the problem.

Regarding Nashorn: it is still better than remodelled King Tiger... if devs have new model of KT why don't they just replace the present model in Terror doctr. of Wehr? It would be better solution.

Good job boys, finally some new pics of infantry. I'm waiting for Ostheer to include new models + skins into my new comic book. I have quite a good story ready for long time but I was waiting for new graphics.

Some notes about doctrines:
1. another King Tiger seems redundant, please consider a change. For example:
Prestige troops (3CP)- thanks to your prestige Army Command will send you some experienced troops
- player active ability, for a period of 1min. all experience of all unit gained during combat is doubled, cooldown 5min.

or

Field promotion (4CP)
- every unit will receive a possible upgrade which when activated will add one level of veterancy automatically, it will be possible only from level 0 to 1 and only once. The cost would be in MP, equal to half of the unit's cost in MP. (i.e. if an infantry with cost of 300MP will be upgraded, it will cost additional 150MP and will receive veterancy level 1)

2. Tiger which replaces Panther - IMO Panther should not be included in Ostheer, instead of it Tiger should, doctrinal ability could then call-in Nashorn for example

So wait, are Super-Heavies going to cost money when the game is released? That's bull. All the rich kids are going to be rolling around in indestructible death buckets while the rest of us proles have to grind grind grind grind grind just to get a crappy A20.

Not exactly, I don't know if it was explained correctly - you can play ANY tank you want even without payment. The problem is just that higher tiers 8-10 are quite expensive (in terms of credits -in game money) to repair and ressuply ammo. BUT you gain credits for your performance in battles, so if you are good you can have positive gain/loose credits ratio. I don't think that credits are problem in this game for any competent player. I f.e. had about 20mil. credits prior to hardwipe&release. Of course noobs wouldn't be able to pay the repair bills if their performance in game was shitty...

I wrote some summary here if you are interested to read something about this game.

And about new things in game, you can expect soon:
- brand new French tank tree
- clanwars which would be played on big map, where clans would seize territories and earn gold from that territories, so it will be something like strategy game
- some new maps

What I don't like on this game are players, too often there are brainless drones which act like lemmings. But in conclusion, in what game you can play Panther 2 or Maus? :)

Close combat is awesome :)

My tip: Panzer general I,II,3d, PGIII:Scorched earth - turn based but brilliant games, even with some kind of RPG element (leaders with medals and special abilities).

If you look for real-time game CoH is far the best (i tried lots of others), also Axis&Allies could be fun even if it is quite simple.

« on: March 23, 2011, 09:56:20 AM »
Come on, we feel guilty enough about having to include the Panther! There's no creativity or challenge invlolved in copy-pasting the Panzer IV as well.

Well truth is that PzIV represents Ostheer better than Panther... but if you wanna feel guilty then implement Tiger instead of Panther :) IMO Tiger represents Ostheer far better as Panther too. Not that I'm having something vs Panthers, I love that tank but the other 2 factions have it. I really don't understand why Tiger  is so scarce for majority of players, it all depends on how you design it, including veterancy. It can be normal heavy tank as IS2 for late game.

I looked at world of tanks and I'm not even sure what it is. ??? Is it a RTS or a FPS with tanks.

                                                        Anyways it looks fun

If you know game Counter-strike, it is exactly like this but with WW2 tanks. You play 1 tank in team of 15 tanks vs 15 tanks of enemy. One round 15 minutes. After battle you receive some credits and experience which allows you to improve your tank or buy new tank (better model).

Which might be interesting - there is even MAUS tank which can be played too, and other wide variety of WW2 tanks from Leichttraktor to Panther II, Maus or Jagdtiger. There are even SP Artilleries like Wespe, Hummel or GW Panther/Tiger.

Game is free to play you just need invite code (it's closed beta test game). In about 2 moths it should be official and will be available to everyone to play. The invite code could be obtained on web. I have it from a webpage about PC games (www.sector.sk).

Hehe, it makes me feel special when someone really missed me :) thank you.

The truth is that last half year I'm quite busy and don't have time to attend. I finished my house and moved with my girlfriend in it. And still have to solve some things around house... it's neverending story.
I didn't even finish my next Comic book, story is ready but need graphics.

I didn't forget, just don't have enough time to do everything. I would like to have 48 hours per day. All the best to you boys in New Year!

Heh I'm flattered man :)

Ya and still waiting for your Comic book Seeme. You said you started to work on some. Mine work on new issue stopped for a while because I was busy with my work and also playing "World of Tanks" a lot lately. Good that new patch is out, I was waiting for it too as some new skins were promised.

PS: if I want to point out some person (aside whole EF devs team) I would say thanks to Blackbishop since he is always replying on tech support posts helping the others with install/bugs solving.
