Didn't, I'm simply vindicating my point which in term strengthens yours.

Simply it wont, unless you can give me proof that they had "stealth" coats back then.  :P

Good to see decent threads being derailed by sensational spam as usual, always a beneficiary in furthering the topic at hand...

Real soldiers don't need such luxuries. ;) What's this got to do with night-ops, anyway? :-\
Really? it provides thermal visioning that highlights emissions of heat which in the case of night fighting means guaranteed marks on enemy soldiers as their bodies metabolic processes give off the most heat vs the surroundings which are no longer induced with uav rays from the sun.

In layman terms, warm blooded beings will be singled out of the cooler environment as they are 'heated'.  ;)

Anyway I think that the infra-red equipment should at least be featured in the campaign would be an excellent set piece more so for latter part of it then the former for sure.

Ha, would love to see the one for Russian..  :P

German soldiers with Russian undertones = serious lol.

Well think that could be a bit of wishful thinking considering they proclaimed 2.602 to be the last patch did they not..?

Personally think that once the mod gets to 1.4 and gets integrated that may just do the trick but its anyone's guess at this point...

Think if we get people on ts for matches that too would be a boost.

Is that steam sale still in effect..??  :P

Getting back to the topic at hand...

Anyone have an actual documented account of the vampir(stg44 modified etc) weapons used in particular night fighting skirmishes that happened near the end of WW2..?

Been trying to ascertain credible accounts of these engagements.

Only very, very good games without multiplayer are worth buying. Almost all my games are multiplayer oriented.
How so? care to elaborate on that..?

I've only bought bfbc2 thus far but don't regret it for a min. Campaign is quite fun and captivating just enough to grasp my attention for a few sessions and mp is some of the best of any fps game I have played.

Should try it not only because bf3 is on the horizon but also just to toy with the frostbite engine.  :)

I find myself intrigued with this prospect...

May even join in with you lot, that is if I get around to getting coh back on my pc..  been too attached to gw anyway could use a change of pace.  :)

Perhaps we could even use my TS3 for this? feel free to do so for any match ups.

Yeah Zimmert was effective in that one regard (aside from the fact that it just looks dare I say "awesome")

Ironically must bombs used by infantry weren't even of the magnetic make, for ex US soldiers for the most part just used good ol' satchel charges and 'pineapples'..

Ben-Laden dead?

Justice est faite!  >:(

End with a quote “Before you embark on a journey of revenge, dig two graves.”

+1 unfortunately
Lol, define whats just, I notice allot of the masses like to hide behind some grand concept of it but when asked how it can be maintained and sustained as being 'just' they can offer no answer!  ;)

As for OBL's demise, it follow suits with Saddam's death in that its all about projecting a moral boast and instilling a lasting aura of "mission accomplished"

The same people who believe that the death of one perpetrator can somehow right the world are of the same ill mindsets of those who subscribe to the logical fallacy of a "utopia"

Ostheer Suggestions / Re: infra-red Panthers etc?

One note: all this infra red materials were very very rare at the front. Some small units had used this infra red scopes during the last days!!! (and i mean LAST DAYS!)
By adding this stuff u get an heavy 1945+ Ostheer - no common Ostheer of the eastern front. U mix up more and more stuff.
So i have to say that i'm against infra red in general Ostheer games!
That's a really moot point, you might as well say that there shouldn't be King Tigers and JagdTigers for the mod because there weren't allot of those in the war as well...

Also just in case some of the charlatans that I notice on here come and try to oust this by way of claiming that it wasn't used on the eastern front I only have this to say; read em and weep: http://www.achtungpanzer.com/german-infrared-night-vision-devices-infrarot-scheinwerfer.htm it was used on BOTH fronts contrary to popular belief of it being used only in one setting...  ;)

Eastern Front / Re: T34 armor - was it really that awesome?
« on: May 01, 2011, 11:44:08 PM »
IJoe, you do realize that it has already been established that this is about the soviet tank as it is about the T34 thus the transitive property comes into play...

Your point about the title is well put however by default if your right then your post in reply to mine is just as irrelevant as mine, that's just simple logic after all..

Let me just end this by saying if it were the PzIV that had sloped armor prior to the T34s rolling out from Kharkiv, then the renown roles would had been reversed but lets not forget that in actuality it was technically the A20 which was the first to have this sloped armor at the time. (yes, I know it was just the prototype form but still considered different vehicle)

Ostheer Suggestions / infra-red Panthers etc?
« on: May 01, 2011, 11:19:44 PM »
So recently I have been digging up historical contents in search of possible additions and for a personal hobby as well (granted more so towards the latter then the former)

As was posted on Panzer88s site this pretty good find on a page about the Vampir and various other infra red equipment that was being employable by the Germans in the latter years of the war...

Including the mounted infra red gun sights and headlamps on various vehicles; http://strangevehicles.greyfalcon.us/Nightfighting%20Panthers.htm, very interesting article even though there are some notable inaccuracies buried within..

most notably the 2 man turret (without a turret basket and ammo protection) and limited visibility.

As a tactical weapon weapon of war, the T34 was the best. Its quality as an individual machine was surpassed

Only two tanks fought throughout the war 1939-1945. The PzIV and the T34. T34 was overall a better weapon of war
I'm sorry but I cant not simply sit idly by while you through out such wayward praises...

This isnt meant to be a flame mind you and if someone wants to try and call me out on it and start an illegitimate "flame war" and wear the hat of the charlatan, well then so be it but be prepared to be ignored in kind.

Yes this may seem esoteric of me but hey don't you have to be when it comes to any non-pseudo historical discussion? So with that said the first thing that needs to be addressed is your overly bold proclamation that the T34 was the best tactical and then you follow that with a complete contradiction of "Its quality as an individual machine was surpassed" (so best but not best?) Not to mention of course the aforementioned problem it had in regards to its turret and its heavily limited visibility and sights which is why it was more iconic and more noteworthy when it received the "mickey mouse turret" as its moniker became.

Lastly this huge error of proclaiming that the T34 was fully produced through out the war, granted the other half of your statement is correct in regards to the PzIV however this topic isn't about that anyway, fact is it hadn't started into pre-production until well into 1940 and didn't even achieve relevancy till 1941 for obvious reasons (Op Barbarossa)
