So yeah...here's the thing. About 15 minutes ago I was playing an epic 4v4 game against AI that was lasting over 3 hours...and at perhaps the last moments of the game (I was already attacking the Russians' base) I had to "alt-tab" the game and do something else (I won't say what but the person who made me alt-tab owes me plenty...). Anyways when I get back to the game, the whole thing just freezes and I basically had to force-shut my game, making that moment one of the greatest c0ckblocks of my life. After this c0ckblock, I wondered: how the hell does this alt-tab thing work? How come sometimes it crashes the game while other times it gets back to normal, and well?

You pretty much have to be specific when you say what you were alt-tabbing to, otherwise there's no real background. This doesn't happen to me when I alt-tab, only a lot of lag.
-
alt-tab to go use the Internet. Sometimes when I do it, it works and I can continue the game perfectly. But some other times, the game just crashes...
-
I normally just click Ctrl then Esc. Works for me. Whenever I do it my game, no matter the game, pauses itself.

qft, except the part where the game pauses. in comp games i imagine it would though.
