Hey i'm new to this forums, so i thought it would be the right time to ask this question ;D
My personal favourite has to be the T-34.
-
PANTHER
-
Tiger :P
-
Hard one! But probaly the Tiger II with Henschel turret
-
Pz IV Tiger I and Pz II Luchs :)
-
Panzer III - my only love xD
-
Panzer IV Ausf. H: My love ;D
-
Panther
-
Jagdpanther
-
Um would the SDKFZ 234/2 Puma count? Its not really a tank except the gun. It really set the pace for modern IFVs like the Stryker
-
I think it should be " Favourite VEHICLE of WW2"
-
I think it should be " Favourite VEHICLE of WW2"
If you put it like this, it can't be anything but Burro's Kübelwagen!
-
A man always is lying about his size! I would show a big Jadgpanther in my front yard but in truth will drive a more comfortable Pz III to work :D
-
kangaroo for family,,,, and Saturday night Panther with Zimmerit ;D
-

LOL in that case have a Maus in front of your house but drive a Motorbike or a Kubelwagen ^-^
-
IS-2, I fucking love that tank. Can't wait to start making a newer, more accurate model for it. ;D
-
@delmar77: I like your style.
@Fish: my bad neighbor always shows off his SUV, my Pz III will sure proves what is the true vehicle in the city's streets. Of course, the Su-85 is still in the garage, waiting for the bitter broke up/divorce. What if the Maus broke down on a trip to the countryside? That's horrible :(
-
I have always found the JagdPanther very sexy. If I were a German panzer officer, I would insist apon having a JagdPanther.
-
I find the Panzer IV Ausf. H very sexy b/c of its awsome armor skirts ;D
-
Panzer V. Panther because it looks like a beautiful dealer of death.
-
LOL im surprised no one has mentioned the Koingstiger (KT or Tiger II) yet :P
I also like seeing masses of shermans. They look cool en masse 8)
-
Sommarkatze said Tiger II with the Henschel turret. I prefer the Porche turret to be honest, not a fan of boxy tanks... Cromwells are an eyesore especially, probably because they were built out of pot and pans.
-
Well If I was going to put one on display and drive another it would definitly be a Churchill Mk IV on display and my Puma I would drive. I cant really say what it is about the Churchill, it just feels so right.
But then again I might pull the camo tarp off my dusty ol' M3 Lee and take her for a spin.
I have a hard time picking favorites, there's just so many flavors to choose from.
-
I would personally enjoy a ride in a Sdkfz 251/21 (with 3 MG151 autoccannons :D ) or a Soviet T-44.
-
Tanks should have been a luxury merchantdise. Like Sport cars! :D
-
hahahahaha. I love the Panzer IV, particularly the models with the long 75mm cannon. In fact, it's my favorite tank of all time. American World War 2 tanks, in my opinion, were crap. they're essentially death traps.
-
Sherman quote: "God damn tin can's a death trap!"
-
Alternately : "get this bucket of bolts moving"
-
lights the first time, everytime
-
Those are excellent qualities ... for a lighter :P
-
Hey it keeps the soldiers toasty during the night ;D
-
Its called a Ronson lighter gents
-
If i was going to pick a Sherman the only good one was the Sherman Firefly and only because the 17pdr is boss
-
And I'll pick a command version of a Sherman and stay out of the bloody tank battle.
-
I'd rather be in a plane.
-
I'd rather be in a plane.
Isnt this about tanks ;)?
I wanna try riding a goliath ;D
-
I would go IS-2 all the way with the 122mm gun ;D
-
I wanna try riding a goliath ;D
Ill pray for you my friend
-
I wanna try riding a goliath ;D
Ill pray for you my friend
Ill take the explosives out first ^-^. So theres zero risk ;D
-
king tiger, cause it very big tank with a very big gun.
-
king tiger, cause it very big tank with a very big gun.
So is the Maus ;D
-
oh yes of course but i thought this was WW2 tanks Not WW6 tanks
-
IF we had a WW6, we would have bloody Mechs and levitating Tanks. Not Maus, that would be terribly obsolete by then
-
And mechanical horses and we would fight over space colonies and shit! <3 And to tribute to the topic.
I like the Tiger 2 with Porsche turret too. Cant decide which one I like the most ;C
-

Einstein once said that he doesn't know what will mankind use during WW3, but he's sure that WW4 will feature rocks and tree branches. I guess that we would fight WW6 with bananas ( or cucumbers - depending of climatic zones).

I'll use my trusty clementines :P
-
we will fight with our balls!
-
we will fight with our balls!
Ouch. Better be prepared to go to the hospital :P. Or not have children XD
-
there werent be any hospitals, everyone will be busy fighting WW7 with their genitals
-
I wonder how there is anyone left to fight WW8 considering how everyone's ding dongs dissapear during WW7 :P
-
ONE WORD
CLONE WARS
-
I'd love to see clone troopers fighting for real. But chances are we'd be dead b4 that :P
-
clonings is already happening with animals but the clone dies in about 30 days.
-
Please get back on topic, guys ;)
-
Please get back on topic, guys ;)
LOL this is probably a good idea. How the hell did we even get to cloning ???
Whats the smallest tank created (Im talking a combat tank, not a "official definition" of a tank) ???
-
LOL the goliath man come on
-
LOL the goliath man come on
I didnt actually think the goliath counted as a tank I thought it was more of a IED on wheels ;D
-
Goliath was a tank of the time and to this day is considered one. It had a motor and armor, but it was an Engineers Vehicle.
-

Wow. The little Goliath that could ;D
-
Correct me if Iam wrong but what consider tank? What I heard its when it has armour and a moving turret. ( A jagdpanther for example is a tankdestroyer and a stug a assault canon?)
This is what the swedish military learnt me XD
The goliath is a good question! But IMO it doesnt count because it has no crew ;) But hmm. Kugelpanzer? Thats just a prototype so somebody is going to be mad so an full produced one.
I guess on some japanese tank?
-
Well technically a tank doesn't need to have turret, for example the Swedish Stridsvagn 103 is a tank designed to fit the Swedish environment, it doesn't need a turret because in heavily forested areas those things can get quite unwieldy.
Goliath does have a crew, a single Pioneer armed with a remote control. In a similar way the Soviet T-26 teletanks were still considered tanks although they were remote controlled by Engineers
-
Is that so? The Stridsvagn 103 Iam pretty sure is a ¨stormkanon¨ btw. Swedish for assault canon. But I havent a doctors degree in the subject so you could be right ; D
And the goliath ofc it has a crew. I meant like a crew sitting inside the tank crew ;)
-
Panzer IV F2, the real reason Germany lasted as long she did.
-
T-34, the greatest tank ever and she gave even greats like Otto Carius and Johanes Bolter panic attacks the first time they fought one of them. Still used by North Korean reservists and the PLA for training 70 years later. :)
-
If only its turret was a bit more spacious.
-
That was fixed in the 42 and later models, but yes all russian tanks are not made for comfort. They are made to be reliable and to kill.
-
Definitely Sherman.. I just like the way they look..
-
The M3/M5 Stuart. Cute little thing, and dual cadillac engines gave it some zip. No wonder the Brits named it the Honey.
-
I love my Hetzer. :P
-
I love my Hetzer. :P
She was the perfect little hunter, even in-game.
-
Jagdtiger and Jagdpanther
-
Jagdtiger and Jagdpanther
The Jagdtiger was a mechanical disaster, though I see its appeal, 128mm main gun and all of that armor.

But it's too sexy! :P

You shouldn´t forget that the tanks had to get ready asap. You can´t develop a vehicle in a few month and expect it to work without problems. For that the german ingenery did a great job because it worked somehow.
-
They had 2 years for the project, but yeah you are right. Still any vehicle that weighs that much with tracks that thin and that power to weight ratio is a sitting duck in combat, even the tiger aces that got a hold of it thought it was a waste of precious metals.
-
2 years are nothing. Look how long the leopard had to be developed to be a stable design..
-
That is because the Leopard was designed to be the end all be all for the Heer, the Jagdtiger was a single-role vehicle.
-
The Centurion is pretty neat too. Didnt see any action in the war ( thank god from a german perspective?) but imo its a masterpiece being in active service for like 60 years. And thats a tank not a rifle XD ( ofc with upgrades and some modifying)
-
The T-34 was probably the crapiest tank ever made, as shown in the picture below the welds were just awful some tankers even reported being able to stick their fingers out of the tank from inside through the welded areas. One report from Michael Wittmann's crew said that they had been rammed by a T-34 instanly blowing the engine and transmission on the soviet tank and not even leaving more than a scratch on his Tiger. idk how anyone could say they love this pos.
-
LOL that sounds so funny XD. Soviet Russia kamikazes ;D
-
People like it because, despite the problems with quality and crew of four, it still had a good mix of armour, speed, reliability and weaponry. The mass production came at the expense of quality but that nonetheless won the war. Everyone knows German tanks were gorgeous beasts but it doesn't matter when you're surrounded by 10 reasonably good T-34s and your engine won't start.
-
Quantity over quality I guess :P
-
Lawl, my Dad's car has better welding.
-
But your dad's car cant fire 76mm rounds ;D
-
You'll never know ;)

Hi Doc. great picture . this x "weld" isn't. They missed the join entirely. Going anti-clockwise the next weld (with dark spot is bad. the top weld with the Tack at the corner is good technique and a good weld . The last weld (running down to the non-weld) is not great (you can see where they didn't get full penetration) but it would keep fumes and vapors out. Its difficult to make welds on the 40 degree angles of the T34 but the angle of the armor caused many shots to just ricochet away. Shoddy craftsmanship couldn,t take that away from tank. From what I see here I would guess a lot of tankers were asphyxiated by fumes in cold weather. When I look at the picture again this tank is probably reconstructed from one or more wrecked tanks in a museum somewhere. Kublinka maybe?
-
Could be, I typed in Soviet T-34 welds, or something like that and this is one of the pictures that came up. I can say at least the T-34 was welded and not riveted, like Italian tanks ::)

Whats the advantages of riveting as opposed to welding ????
-
Rivets will shear off when hit causing them to become additional projectiles inside the tank.

38Ts were riveted then mae west was welded over top to good effect.
-
I'd say Königstiger, but just because I'm German and I love heavy tanks. :P
-
T-34/85
Crusader II/III
Panzerkampfwagen VI Tiger(All the models)
-
Staut ;)
I'll laugh if I spelled that wrong.
-
Start laughing :P
-
:'(
-
For me the german Panther was the best tank in WW2. As it had a sloped frontal armour, wasn't "eating" much fuel like the Tiger/King Tiger and still had a 75mm cannon which was able to take on even late Soviet tanks and ofc the late war version with the Nightvision is one of my favorites :P.
-
The E-100 Super Heavy Tank!! ;D It had 240mm of armor with a 17.2cm/6.77in
Weighed 137.8 Tons but was only a prototype, P.S. It was German, Built on 1945
-
I'm quiet sure it was only a blueprint and was never build.
-
I'm quiet sure it was only a blueprint and was never build.
Well. The chassis and the tracks were finished. Turret and superstructure wasnt finished in May 45.
British army captured the E-100 parts and test the chassis with an King Tiger engine.
-
Pictures are always lovely! <3
(http://wiki.worldoftanks.com/images/e/e7/E_100_remaining_chassis_2.jpg)
E-100 chassis that is.
-
It probably would of took down a small bridge.
-
That was the problem with the supertanks: Bridges.
-
I heard that some Tigers didn't have much mobility cause they'd roll onto the bridge and it would collapse :o
-
I heard that some Tigers didn't have much mobility cause they'd roll onto the bridge and it would collapse :o
Collapsing bridges are the reason why germanys heavy tanks were able to cross rivers by diving ;)
-
And that's why we Commies built small bridges XD
-
The Panther, because its the f...ing best tank Ever ;D
And the StugIII, the real Backbone of German Armor in ww2
-
The Tiger I! A awesome war machine.
And the Panzer III, because of his design. :P
-
Panzer VI Ausf. B "Königstiger"
-

Even PzIIIs would take down small bridges in russia. part of the rcce platoons job was surveying them. @ LordRommal: How effective do you think the snorkelling devices and such really were on the Panzers?
-
Well. The snorkelling was possible. Technical stuff worked quiet perfect.
In combat; Well. Wasnt used quiet often. Didnt no any report of an Tiger that crossed a river by snorkelling.
But german engineers know that brigdes wont be strong enough for this german heavy tanks.
All in all everyone had this problem with brigdes. So i think this point cancel each other out and cant be a factor
for combat mobility :)
-
I heard that there were actually some PanzerIII's that were upgraded to "Tauchpanzer" for the Operation Seelion. I think I could pass about 15m deep rivers. Dunno if it was used.
-
Hm. I'm not at home so i cant look into my books but i can remember that there were around 70 Panzer III and IV of a special "Tauchversion" (dive version) for the Operation Seelöwe against England. They were able to dive in round about 5m deep. With the abandon of Seelöwe this dive tanks were assign to the 18. Panzer-Division that used this tank quiet often in Russia with great succes.
A number of Panzer III crossed the river Bug and destroyed a number of heavy soviet field artilleries and allowed the infantry of the 18. PzDiv to cross the Bug without casualties.

Just when I thought the Germans had it all, they have below sea level tanks xD
-
If favorite tank includes Tank Destroyers and SPG's mine would be the SU-100 or Jagdpanther. MBT-wise either the T-34/85 or the Panther.
-
The Panzer IV will always be a favorite. The real unsung hero of the German war effort.
