hey, i was just wondering if anybody uses the sniper ace in the urban doctrine. it definitely seems very cool and I've definitely used it in the past, but i guess i just cant justify 750 population to buy a unit that doesn't kill 750 worth of enemy pop. it costs more than a KV-2 for Pete sake. (no offense Pete) anyway, tell me your thoughts.

What do you mean he can't kill 750 manpower  :o

He can be called in from any building allowing infiltration
He has a few tricks and abilities up his sleeve to rack up more and more kills.
He has active camo and moves full speed with camo on or off.

Killing 8 grens = 600 mp which is easy to obtain. The Sniper ace is an extremely effective unit, try to think of him like a hero from Operation: Assualt. If you're good with sniper micro, racking up kill and effectively denting the enemy's manpower income is easy to do.

? and i never said he is ineffective, just maybe not worth the cost.

imagine you get infiltrating Vet3. US sniper with few useful abilities. It's worth 750mp.

Well said.
Its like asking if a wehrmacht sniper is worth building - it costs more than 12 US reinforcement rifleman! Its worth it if your micro is good enough and you manage to keep your sniper alive.

i see your point. so it sounds like if it were a regular sniper it wouldn't be worth it, but because of the abilities he pays for himself, right?

the only problem i have with sniper ace is by the time i've unlocked him the game has moved away from infantry and on to vehicle combat in which the sniper ace is not suited.

On the contrary, with vehicles you will see a plenthora of AT infantry, support weapons and probably a lot of infantry similar to KCH, Vetted Grens, probably some MP44/Shreck PGrens too. Snipers make those small sized squads extremely vulnerable, especially Pgrens and Grens because such a smaller squad size leaves them easy to snipe.

You could always get counter sniped. The sniper ace isn't really immune to these shot IIRC

He has active camo and moves full speed with camo on or off.

Does he gain any benefit from walking uncloaked? If so then there really is no point in keeping him visible :P

Since 1.0 he can spawn from buildings.

He cannot use arty while cloaked.

If you can get unupgraded Sharpshooter to get vet, then there's no way Sniper Ace can't do something.

...same way you get Falls to spawn.  Click on the sniper ace call-in on your UI and then hit an unoccupied building with your mouse.

imo sniper ace is one of the strongest units and can easily decide games  ;D tough its very dangerous to play with him  :P

Use him like past snipers which had sniping and arty :D.

He also has special abilites which help stop strong squads like the one where he shoots the officer and surpresses the squad.

Rapid fire helps stops blobs I guess (never used that 1).

Since he walks fast use it to hit a weapon crew and run fast ;D. Like a drive by shooting ;)
