Last night, Von Klaus, Paladin, and myself went against 2 brits and a russian on the refinery. We controlled most of the map and routinely destroyed the russian base. However, the Brit bases seemed to be almost impossible to overtake. Everytime we'd rush them with our panthers and PIV's their Hull Down tanks would take us out. It took us about an hour to finally win. So my question is.....
What is the best way to destroy hull down tanks? We repeatedly hit them with firestorms. V1s worked a little better but didn't work all that great. Our tanks seemed almost useless against them. How much of an armor increase/rate of fire bonus does a hull down tank receive as opposed to a regular tank?
-
one easy possible solution is playing VP games :D
there is no need to kill the base there^^
-
Haha, yes, we play a lot of VP games as well. Some people refuse to play VP games though.

+1

hehe i know your problem dude^^
the most players who wants to play annhi are the less skilled players who think they only need the late game abilitys to win :P
sometimes stukas worked good against hulled down ability
i never tryed at nades of pe but i think this would also work
-
Perhaps nebels? The fire stays for a little longer and might be useful.

So true.
Annihilation = Spamspamspamspamspam!
-
Easy... PE AT Grenades + Ammo HT take care of them :P.
-
it wasnt a problem at all I avoided them when I was on your side of the map and flanked the non hunker downed tanks. We had about 90% of the map before there sheer mass was a problem. It wasn't an issue at all because hull down is great for protecting your tanks but really a bunch of Cromwell and Churchill locked down still have a hard time doing much damage . Im sure if we spammed at guns like they did Churchills it would have been less of an issue.
I like annihilate, bad players feel more comfortable, and it gives you a chance to come back. Alot of times if im soviet union and i dont win map early it feels as if game is over if i play vp (atleast against good players) . Its aggravating when all the best players always play together and leave you on the team with the random newb, atleast if we are playing annihilate I can fight and annoy him if its vp they are just going to give each other virtual high fives because they doubled teamed me in first 5 minutes while my partner was capping the crap side of the map that no one cared about. Annihilate is more balanced in my opinion because good players dont want balanced games they want to play with there level 10 partner and stomp you.
-
To answer FLgators question, I think Hulldown gives you like 50% armor protection :o so theres a much lower chance of penetration :P.
-
Wouldn't that in fact be the point of a balanced map, that two good players beat two lesser uncoordinated players? Annihilate games cause people to whip out lame boring strats so it takes you an hour to beat them even if they're far shitter than you.
-
so true Dennis
i recently played Seeme, and no offense he sucks, but because he was blobbing guard squads like mad it was hard to beat him and his blobbing allies and took longer than it should have
-
tsk tsk tsk, I see "blobing" again, it gonna be more famous than "Seeme" or "orange".
Question: Does hull down give the tank less being penetrated bonus? Or just increase normal def? And sometime, I control the tank to get the rear of enemy's tank but mysteriously my tank shoot the rear part near the front and get a ricochet? And tankhunters too, they stand in the front of the tank, shoot and get a rear amor hit ???
-

COH is weird and unpredictable, plus it does only know front and rear armor, there is nothing such as side armor.
-
"side amor", I mean the left-right side, the rear is behind. Sorry :(
-
@stavka88: "When activated, the tank cannot move, however gains 25% reduction in damage and penetration, allowing the tank in question to stay in the firefight a lot longer"
taken from GR.com ;D

lol i didnt think we were that hard to kill. My friend (other brit) doesn't really play pvp but he did ok with the hull down tanks,i just used piat ambushs and mines as defences. the funny part was that canci was calling us noobs when all he did was blob huge tank hunter blobs and sent them into the meat grinder!plus i dont like anilat games anymore vp is more aggressive, fast and fun.but one thing i got to give u guys that made me stay interested longer in the game was the V1s!THEY completely scared the shit out of me!!Soon as i heard it i was like were do i go this way that way, it was so fun!but one thing i noticed was a v1 landed right on top of two hulled down cromwells and only went down 25% health so i dont know about those hull downs.
-
The post from GR is correct. Hull down disables movement but gives you 0.75 received penetration and 0.75 received damage.
-
0.75 received penetration from both sides, front and rear?
-
Yes. However rear penetration is much easier than front anyway. Rear shots even in hull down will likely penetrate.
Penetration of shrek vs normal Churchill rear armour: ~1.2 ie. 100%
Penetration of shrek vs hull down Churchill rear armour: ~0.9 ie. 90%
Churchills get better armour than Tigers when hull down.

Incorrectish, there is something that is Side Armor. Side armor is kinda like Rear Armor but you can't "Crit Hit".

so true Dennis

...
Sure I had a bunch of Guards, but I didnt "blob them". I had 2 T-34s Supporting them.
Plus it was a 4v4 game, gotta have fun once and awhile. I would never even make Guards in a tourney or against a player like Dennis or a high skilled player. 4v4 Should Not judge how good someone is. I didn't even have guards until the last 10 min. And no offense you weren't the best, yourself ;D ;D ;D
And If I recall I wanted a VP game, anyway.
Sorry, am not the best player in the world, but I do not blob.

Guards are very nice units in the next patch. I recommend using them.
-
Well I mean the game would end before I could spam them ;D ;D

I didn't read this whole thread, it may have been answered. Does Hull Down give the tank and increased rate of fire as well?
-
I don't believe that was asked and from experience I don't believe it gives a RoF increase, but I'm not 100 % sure on that.
-

No.
-
Hull down... ouch for enemy players, I think this topic is about done.
(What more can be said about this topic?)
-
Since you asked Paladin, lol.
Can you Hull down in water? Can you hull down on anything that isn't raised? Or are there restrictions on what you can hull down on?
Once hulled down, does the range of the weapon increase?

No bonus I am aware of range wise, and you can hulldown on anything...I'm 95% sure on that, Not sure about extreme slopes. I know you can on hills and in water but not sure about something like a cliff.
-
Are you more vunerable to getting hit though? I know that sometimes the way you build your trench causes it to get hit more often or more likely. Same for hull down ???
-
Probably, I never build slits on neg cover since they seem to randomly die off...
