Post by: Hamasei on April 19, 2011, 05:21:27 AM
This is my last map, is a " virgin " city, with no predestrolled houses or bullet hits, i think is diferent idea.

I dont know how to put 2 diferent wheater option before the mach.

That's some awesome work there, mate. So where is this map set? I noticed it seems to be in German-controlled territory.

WOW. This symmetry looks awesome. You're very talented! Nevertheless, you should consider to use more splats around vour maps. Sometimes, the ground looks a bit too clean for a city where a world war takes place.
Keep up the really great work! ;)

Before the final 1.0 version the map had more splats but this maked alot of errors and crashes, the big number of houses also make a limitation for other details without lag, and i wanted a "real urban map" for total urban combat... when you spend 15 minuts in the map you can see alot of hit splats, :P

Thx men

The territory is simetric, cant be unbalanced because the simetry of the colocations and "inpas" areas.

Hey,
i believe pariah wanted to know where your map is located.
(Germany?East-europe?)

I took a look at your map, it's pretty clean, isn't it?
No splats, because of performance improvements? sounds bad.

I'll have a closer look at your map, when I return from my holidays.

@Pariah: Ohhh  :) okey then, pariah, yes, is meaned to be a " ocuped " city because the politic buildings are in the axi base, but i didnt thinked alot about this, all of the models of the editor are from french things.... you can use this city like german city if you want xD but in reality seems like a french city.

@Mystic: No decals, for example treegate decal crashed the map too many times, i puted alot of spline splats to texturize the streets, but because the map is no predestroied, i dont have alot of decoration tools, i cant use textures like dust to unclean the city because is not the way of this map, al buildings are with 100% hp i made all  parks and details with " the same splat " (coblestonone boarder).

treegate decal crashed

That sounds weird. Did you placed it as a decal or as a splt? I think the campagin map I'm currently working on is much bigger and uses more decals/splts than yours and it did never crash nor buck ingame.
So maybe your problem is your PC. How much working memory do you have?

yes, i used decals and it made this error: ("BugSplatRC DDL" "xxxxxxxx??¿") i erased alot of decals and then the map work good.
I have 8 GB of ram memory, is not a PC problem, is relic escript problem.

i erased because this version make conection erros because i paked with corxis mod and i dont know why the sga file doesnt appear in reliccoh only in EF and cant conect with other players if they have the map. " xxx dont have the same version of the map " Then, because when i up hier the file, i upded the another version with no loading screen but total unbuged, in a game downloads web, and testing with some friend i find the bug and i decided to erase this loading screen paked version. Im waiting to the publication of the map in the web.

1.) Use splats instead of decals

2.) I think you meant 8GB RAM, not 8MB :P

3.) I'll hope you fix your error and make your map a little up ;)

does this particular map require a lot of resources to run? graphically?

I noticed a lot of custom maps need crazy gaming comps to run smooth. and sadly this kills my little laptop  ;D :(

Alot no, but with bad resources this map will lag a little bit.

In this map the cpu hard work good, too agresive, i tested.

This map is so pretty. Maybe this battle is the first to take place so there is no damage.

I think it was still impossible to find a city which wasn't damaged at all because before soviet troops attacked a town they normally used to bomb it a lot with planes and artillery :P.

Yes but the name of the map it isnt a name of a " real city " howeber, this city is mean to play in urban docs and tactics, you dont need destrollied the city to this. I wanted more original and beautiful look than a super destroied city, because all of the good city maps in coh are totaly destroied and this break little bit the urban concept, if you need something to close a way you can do in the mach, if like to se destroied chosse katiushas and destroy half of the city.. lol anyway in the end of the maches you will see this map destroied, why you need yo see destroied before?

Far less, than it's generally accepted to think, if we're talking about non-german old european cities - for some reason they didn't really suffer that much of a destruction, as they should've, for it would save a lot of lives of soldiers. Also, soviet forces most of the time didn't rely on air strikes much (unlike americans), thus their barrages were mostly used for tactical shelling before the advance, rather then destroying the whole infrastructure, along with the city itself. Nor was the artillery used to terrorize the population, which is rather a controversial decision, considering the way germans fought on the eastern front.
