So apparently the patch that I've been beta testing for COH is entering the final phase, and will be hitting the game servers soon. I'm wondering, is EF going to be prepared for this patch? I remember how prior patches often broke a lot of mods, some permanently, others for a long time.
-
That's because most other mods change the original game whereas EF only changes very few things about the original factions and gameplay. EF should practically be compatible with the beta patch already. I hope EF keeps it's sniper changes though and also the strafe warning siren.

Following the patch, balance may need fine-tuning and tweaking, but I doubt there will be major issues.

whats new in the patch? :)

Some good changes, though snipers don't have 100% acc against each other like in EF, which is something I would like to keep since snipers missing the countersnipe infuriates me.
Next time search by yourself first ;)

its going to be quite a big and awesome patch

I've been thinking about this myself, I think given the bug fixes and balance measures it would need to be incorporated into EF.
I know the devs have done a good job of keeping EF out of Vanilla's business, so I imagine it to be a pretty smooth transition.
That said, we're still waiting for this final patch.. my guess is next week :)

Can we get rid of the strafe siren already? this final patch makes strafe have a delay, so its not insta strafe anymore.
besides the siren is a unfair handicap anyway you can be looking somewhere else and as soon as you hear that siren you know to retreat your squads, as where if you artyed someone and they werent looking youd get pwned by the arty. So its not fair and takes that away.
theres no warning siren for axis arty, so if your busy microing not looking at that part of the map you wont know its coming. but you always know strafes coming even if your not looking making it unfair. because you can hotkey 1 and just retreat as soon as you hear the siren
and now since theres a second or two delay with the new strafe the siren isnt really necessary and is actually an unfair handicap now.
-
Your units will say "incoming artillery" when they get targeted by arty and you're not on the screen so it doesn't really make a huge difference. A one second delay really isn't much, especially since you won't know where it's targeted, so you're still likely to be hit unless you retreat EVERYTHING.

I never noticed this? :o ???
