Hi all,
first: thanks a lot for this mod.
But I think that the ammo upkeep weakens the soviets way too much. In 1.22 you added ammo costs for IL-2 and God of war. PPS-43 for command squad now costs 100 munition. Every upgrade does cost munition, either for Strelky, flame throwers for engineers, ...
E.g. on Cottbus in a balanced situation you get 20 munition income as soviet player. All that income is spent with medic truck, 2 mortar + 2 AT guns. After that you can't tech up any more.
My suggestion: Soviets cannot secure resource points, that's why they don't need resources for abilities like throwing grenades. Just either drop that upkeep idea completely or at least drop it for light tanks and units like mortar, AT gun, medic truck, ... and cut it at least in half for medium and heavy tanks.
Regards

They can secure points, try building outposts. Plus, the use of abilities doesn't cost them anything. As far as I know, unless you expect to be able to make all the upgrades easily, spam abilities and mines, there is never any shortage of ammo.
-
There is a shortage of ammo if you compstomp and wait one hour till you attack the enemy with the entire army ^^
-
I remember when people were complaining about to much muni...

Double lol. :D

I loled at the mention of Cottbus.

Actually I do like that map, even that it is short concerning munition points.
Ok, thx, I didn't know that outposts can be used to secure resources. That helps.
But still with the recent changes I'm short on munition when playing soviet. There would be neither enough munition left for running God of War nor IL-2 bombing.
-
That's the point. The super weapon strikes are supposed to cost you. It was stupid before when they didn't cost anything. Now you have to be like the other factions and decide between weapon upgrades or devastating callin strikes.
Not that GoW is devastating in any way...
-
Cottbus is a typical barricade-waitforanhour-attackwithentirearmy-map.
I'm not surprised that you don't have enough munition by playing this gamestyle.
-
For me, cottbus is a deathtrap for my enemy.

+1
:P yeah something needs to be done about it
-
Dose it fire where moment is? I swear that God of war was trying to follow my sniper and trying to kill it,Its about the most useless abitly there.
-
Funny coz GoW seems to hate my Katyushas :(
-
It seems to attack use more rather then the enemy

It is interesting where this topic leads ...
Ok, I learned that I just like the wrong maps, that there are maps like Tannenberg where fuel is the scarce resource.
But I still dare to ask whether munition upkeep couldn't at least be taken from the medical truck. It just doesn't make sense...
-
Your right, why would an Medic truck need Ammo and guns?

British medic supplies and wehrmacht medic kits cost ammo.
Does it make sence that healing stations or upgrades cost fuel?
Do soldiers drink fuel to get better?
-
Fuel moves the truck...
-
So the LT runs on fuel?
The point is that munis in the game are spent on instant use powers or weapon upgrades. Fuel is used for long term benefit such as global upgrades, or for advanced units such as tanks. Soviets balance out the fact that almost none of their abilities cost munitions by having a constant upkeep from their units (and their global upgrades also cost munis). Otherwise they would just be swimming in munitions and wouldn't have to make that gameplay choice other factions have to - better units or using powers.

Do you remember Rambo III? Rambo uses gunpowder to cauterise his wound :P.
So the LT runs on fuel?
...
lol ;D...
Only "passive" players suffer from the "muni shortage".

All the concepts of COH are really funny including these fuel and ammo resources , these have been done not to suit reality but the balance of the game
Hence there is no use contemplating the purpose of each and every thing.....
Lts , and Captains do not drink fuel and neither are medic kits available in exchange for a Thompson round
Its just the simple design of the game that dictates this
COH is an RTS game where you will have to focus on how you fight rather than how best you can gather resources which is one of the main objective of many games like AOE
Hence the design is 70% balance - 30% reality
"There goes a joke about COH"
"Its only the reality part of COH , that prevents shermans from flying in to air" ;D ;D
Ammo upkeep etc is a question of balance not reality ;)!!

10% Balance, 10% real, 80% Pure Nonsense.
