Title: calm down
Post by: seq13 on January 22, 2010, 07:53:28 AM
Don't request balance changes after 3 games played lol give it some time so people can came out with different counters/solutions... the is2 got a huge reload time, the mortar can't retreat and you can capture it lol, that hurt the suppressed, blobed soviet infantry hehe they seemed to be overpowered in some ways but they got their weakness as well

Glad I am not the only one who realizes this

You're pretty far behind if you have only played 3 games...

So why not nerf the mortar, so soviets also don't have to suffer that much from it.
Also, you may capture the mortar, but ingame it's usually very difficult to fight through wave after wave of conscripts and ingenery.

I still think there's a general problem, because Soviets have very OP and very UP units at the same time and you can easily win with just spamming and flank the HMGs, which are the only counter for WH (PE sucks 1v1) in early-game.
Also, WH gain commandpoints much quicker than vs. Brit or US.

I didn't mean 3 games for real, I've played it the whole day yesterday and I still think that you should give it some time to came up with proper counters as you can't play vs soviets as you play against other allies.

Try out some fully defense vetted Panzer Grens  ;)

Works on Kursk for me.

Yea, you just need a different play style. Vet your MGs, REBUILD THEM, and keep them moving. Then just have some CQC (LMGs/mp40s) guys around in case the other guys fire-up.

It is kind of funny though how they intended for soviets to be weak early and strong late game, but it's more the other way around now. Paks and shrecks counter sov-tanks perfectly imo.

Yeah i see that too.

Soviets kick arse early game but once the Germans vet some units and produce some of their high tier stuff they roll the enemy.

It's funny because people claim everything is alright balance wise when the developers actually intended the exact opposite of this.

Agreed. My Panzer Grens with G43s and MP44s eat their infantry alive no matter what it is, and Marders and Schrecks are fine enough AT.

I just played a game vs DevM (wehr vs russia). We played on a really, really shitty map (one +16f and m for each of us, no territory in the center :S), but I won with a heavy T2 strat.

bike+3 HMGs to stop the early spam followed by mortars, grenadiers and paks. If you keep on the move those russian mortars (which are very slow btw) aren't so bad. Add in the awesome veterancy which HMGs/mortars get and you can do a lot of damage.
Later you get some inf vet and LMGs for your grens so that they can stop guards (which roll over vet3 MGs).
Of course we neither are very experienced with the mod [and russians], so I could perfectly understand if someone says: "Well he probably did the wrong thing etc."
but here's the replay (http://rapidshare.com/files/339498408/2p_moscow.2010-01-22.22-21-33.rec.html):

Haha I love that map its one of my favorites, to be honest if you want a more balanced game thats about skill, thats the one to play on. Same resources each at the same income...may the best player win  ;D

ok how to counter the fast engis upgrade with double flames?
Title: Re: calm down

G43s with slowdown, MGs, or vehicles. Remember flamethrowers are a bit shorter ranged than most infantry weapons. I imagine the real problem comes when they are upgraded with body armor.

snipers

you mean sniper spam ;] have you check it or it's just the theory? 4 vet3 wehr snipers works miracles against amis/brits (unless US doesn't use the scout/countersnipe combo too often as they even survive the strafes) anyway aren't there any "normal" ways to counter the russians?

More than one sniper is never a good idea, Basic tactics still work from vcoh.

basic like what? you send your 1st volks to engage 2 rifles/2engis? as that's how it looks now...

In a 1v1 context, you don't.  There is absolutely no counter for the ingenery spam.  It's quite literally unbeatable if the player knows what they are doing and if you don't believe me go watch the replay of someone beating 2 Wehrmacht by himself with it 1v2.  In theory, it should be unbeatable on any map, with any number of players, but it gets harder to do in 3v3's and 4v4's.  I have played game after game and never even broken a sweat and its beaten just about every strat you can think of.  If you can't tell that is absurd and game breaking after one glance you need your eyes checked.

I understand that you want to give it time to let it all sink in and let people develop more advanced counters, but really it's all ready painfully obvious that the Soviets are super OP.

I agree, the soviets do seem to be god, but if you just take some time and look they have a lot of weaknesses that can be exploited. I dont think they are as ridiculously unbalanced as some people say they are.

SoccerSpartan, watch the replay from this thread and then come back and say that.
