Intallation Issue

This may be an old problem for a new upgrade but here goes...

I have just downloaded patch 2.6 and then downloaded the latest mod to Eastern Front.  I read the installation thread on this Forum.  But when I go to EF launcher and hit "play" , the computer tells me "Error, Eastern Mod is up to date" but it will not play.  What did I do wrong?  I am using XP without steam.

Check the product version in RelicCoH.exe properties, it should be "2, 601, 0, 0",- it seems, you haven't downloaded the latest patch, which is "2600_2601_Patch.exe"

Blackbishop- I have read that thread about six times. I am still not clear what I am doing wrong.  I will check and see if I have downloaded the wrong patch.  One other question, how do you download a "torrent" file?  My computer keeps telling me that it does not recognize the program that created the file.  Sorry to sound like a newbie but this latest roadblock isnt helping.

how do you download a "torrent" file?

you need a Bittorrent client  ... i recommend Utorrent.

That means, you didn't install EF on the correct path.

When prompted to input your CoH directory, it must have this syntax:

"C:\Games\Company of Heroes" (of course, this path is just an example)

if you select another folder inside that path as install location, you got that error. Also, make sure you actually have installed CoH, because EF won't run without it.

Thanks for the fast response.  I have deleted EF and gone back to square one.  I have updated my COH patches through 2.60-2.601 (the latest one) and will now reinstall EF.  I did notice that EF was actually found in two different folders located in the program files.
Post Merge: March 11, 2011, 11:13:08 AMWell, its still doing it. One question however, must the program files for EF be in the same folder as the COH program files?  Forgive me if this is a really stupid question but I followed the default prompts on installing EF but I just checked and COH is in the program files folder and EF is in a separate folder.
Once again, please help and thanks for your patience.

It must be on the same path than CoH.
