ok, did you install Microsoft Visual C++ redistributable 2005 and 2008?
Do you have the latest DirectX runtime library?
Try to defrag the hard disk, perhaps that could help.
If you never used one of these, I recommend to use

I'm also having this problem, after a couple minutes of play there's a stutter every 5th second or so.
I'm assuming it's a problem with EF since all of the normal CoH plays just fine.
I'm rolling a Intel Sandy Bridge 2500 3ghz with 8gb of ram and ATI HD6990 2gb. Safe to say that isn't the problem AT ALL.
Did anybody ever figure this out? Thanks in advance.

CoH and EF performance cannot be compared each other, because EF has a lot more of content, so you cannot expect it runs just like CoH.
Do you have your settings in Ultra? Have you tweaked the sound effects settings in game to have a better quality? Have you installed an HD texture pack for the environment?

Have you turned off "VSync" (Vertical Sync)?

A lot of people have been running into this issue, including me. A lot of people turn down this issue claiming our gaming rigs aren't souped up enough for CoH; this is not correct, as we both well know our computers surpass the recommended hardware requirements for this game.
This method worked for me and I hope it works for any others running into this issue as it is quite frustrating (I know!).
I stumbled across it when browsing another forum associated with a mod for CoH.
Try this:
-- Right click on "
My Computer
"
-- Click "
Properties
"
-- Click "
Advanced System Settings
"
-- A new window should pop up
-- Under the tab "
Advanced
" click "
Settings
" under the Perfomance box
-- Another window should pop up saying "
Performance Options
"
-- Click "
Change
" under the "
Advanced
" tab
-- After clicking "
Change
" another window should pop up titled "
Virtual Memory
"; on this page something should be a list offering which drive you should select (if you only have one hard drive then you will be fine; it will already be selected by default)
-- Uncheck the "
Automatically manage paging file size for drivers
"; then select "
Custom Size
"
-- Finally there should be two boxes under your checked box: "
Initial size (MB)
" and "
Maximum size (MB)
"; change both of these values to "
3092
"(MB)...click "
Set
" and then click "
OK
"; then reboot the computer and you're all set.
This particular issue consists of stuttering frame rates about 15-20 minutes into your game. The screen jumps around or freezes for half a second every other second. It almost makes the game unplayable.
The reason you may be having "stutters" or "shutters" like this is because the CoH engine cannot support more than 3.33 GB; this is why changing the virtual memory available sets the game right (or at least it has for me!).
I hope this helps!
Let me know how it goes.

Thanks kurgyn, however posting this one time only should suffice.

My apologies, MaxiKing6.
I only wanted to address the issue wherever possible as I know it is quite frustrating and that is the only viable solution I've found.
As many threads were started on the same subject, I figured many posts (one for each thread) would be necessary. I have also noticed that some threads on this matter were started by users who created accounts for the sole purpose of starting a thread for said issue.
I hope I have committed to the benefit of all.

He, it's ok! Of course we can sticky your post anytime to stress the importance of the solution provided by you!

If you feel this solution should be a sticky or added to the FAQ then by all means; do what you will. This is your forum, your mod, your rules. I have no place to suggest to you what you should sticky. I just hope I've helped.
Thanks!
Nice maps, by the way.

Added your workaround to the "Read before posting!" topic in this very subforum!

I wouldn't use that as a pro-tip to "fix" the stuttering problem, that's why I never recommend this(although I do for fixing crashes on 32 bits OS). Remember two things about it:
1) When increasing the amount of Virtual Memory, it is recommended that it is no less than 1.5 times and no more than 3 times the amount of RAM you have.
2) When you do this, you are sacrificing free space on the HDD, and it will cause that the page file uses more the HDD than the RAM, so I hope anyone who does this has a huge free section in the HDD, otherwise, after some months of regular use it will be as slow than used to be due to lack of free space(but worse, because this time not only CoH would be slow, but all the software).
The user should be careful about what size it gives as well, otherwise it might ending running out of space.

This is true. I was somewhat unsure about it being a sticky because of the risk from tampering with advanced settings. However, it IS a temporary solution and better than none. I try to change the virtual memory only temporarily while I play any CoH mod that suffers from the stuttering.
So, as you said blackbishop, all who experience said stuttering issues: I would use this solution AT YOUR OWN RISK. Do NOT expect this "fix" to be a permanent solution to the issue as it is only a temporary fix to reduce the amount of frame skipping and provide you with an enjoyable Eastern Front experience.
Thank you all- I'm glad we could discuss this issue in depth.
NOTE: If any user experiences crashes and/or no decrease in stuttering, you should immediately revert your virtual memory settings discussed in this thread back to their original values (or by default, let Windows manage page file sizes by selecting "
System managed size
")
