"Kiev (6p)" Ice and Steel reworked
« on: February 08, 2009, 05:18:06 PM »
Kiev (6p)

I finished this map about half a year ago, it would probably fit in well with your mod. The map would need to be fixed up a bit, such as a new loadscreen (with no Brits). I also plan on going through the map and improving some areas. This map has played very well and can be quite difficult agains Axis AI at time.

current version (Eastern Front Version "Kiev") (last updated 7/28/09):

We'll use the winter map not a problem. It looks pretty good. You should think about a map of an eastern front theather for it. Maybe Leningrad?

I just remembered this map and a lot of parts of the map were inspired by Eastern front maps on other games (which tend to almost always have snow). If it isn't what you are looking for right now that is fine, but in a later version if you do want to use winter maps I can go back and fix the map up to be a little more mod specific (and just clean up some areas that could use a bit more detail).

Guys, more careful with your comments.

Texas, winter is not a problem, please polish up the map and we will take it.

Well, the map is (for all intent and purpose) finished. The area in the north outside the industrial complex is a bit lacking in ground detail and needs to be worked on (improved). I am building "Battle of Halbe" as a Eastern front mod specific map.

Since the other map is a totally new map it will take up more of my time, so in the mean time please try this map and let me know of any changes you would like to see, so when I go back to touch it up I can make the fixes.

Very good map, I love the winter ambiente and the different surroundings. I would like to call the map Kiev, after the winter liberation battle of the city.

Some details you have to correct:

1. Call the file name "6p_Kiev".

2. Call the map list ingame name "Kiev (6)".

3. Remove the half destroyed american buildings from the map.

4. Make new loading screen.

Once you got those done, please make a new version post, and the map is in.

I have made the nessisary adjustments to the map:
1) fixed file name
2) Renamed map
3) Removed Allied buildings and objects
4) new load screen, now without British (Germans only)
5) Made some small adjustments and a couple of small improvements

Some spelling mistakes in the description need correcting:

You said "waited" somewhere it needs to be "wait". And please change "wouldnt" to wouldn't". And it needs to be "counterattack".
Only the best is good enough for us.

Please correct and reload and we are ready to roll with it.

I will fix any misspellings ::) . Also about "wouldnt" in game relic deleted the ' so the only option would be to make it "would not" (Relic doesn't like symbols of any type). Second I found a problem with the description, it seems to have some limit to the size, I kept having to shrink the description to make it fit (or even appear). The original description was a lot better, I am not supprised the wording got mucked up with all the changes.

Either way I will make the required adjustments.

Sorry for the late reply but here is the updated version of the map with the title and description fixed with the numbers you requested:
OUT OF DATE
And here is the new description for the map:
Quote
The harsh Russian winter has hit. Three German divisions, retreating from the eastern front, have taken cover in the bombed out ruins of an industrial complex at the edge of Kiev. Besides providing cover from the terrible cold, the ruins of the complex would provide excellent cover for the expected Red Army's counterattack. Entrenched within the ruins the Germans dig in for the eminent attack, they would not have to wait long.

If there are any problems please let me know!
